Do you have a personal hero?

I am not referring to a famous person, leader or performer, but just someone in your life who seems like a hero?
My friend that I picked up at the airport yesterday is a hero for me. When I met her, she had begun a second marriage, with a great guy.
I guess her first husband was a little strange, and possibly unfaithful but this is not about him.
My friend raised four kids of her own. In both her first marriage and the second one she took in foster children. Sometimes she did respite foster care for high intensity foster kids with challenging behaviors and special needs.
My friend had a teaching certificate, then also had a Library Science Masters degree that she obtained to take a job here, where I met her. Later she got a CNA, CMA and LPN. She works as a nurse. She adopted one of her troubled foster kids.At one point she worked three jobs during a time when she was not married.
My friend is bi polar disorded, but was not diagnosed until she moved here. Her kids are exceptionally intelligent and talented. One of them has a mental health disability, as does the one foster child she adopted. She is a board member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and has done workshops for others.
She often makes individual personalized gifts for birthday and Christmas for all the kids, grand kids, in laws, you name it. At 67 years old she still works full time.
I am in awe of her teaching nature, her creative ability and her patience. She is my hero.

She has exceptional characteristics. I guess, it is not only you who admire her but also the people around her. She is a very strong woman too based on your description. She is truly a hero!
As for me, I consider my parents my heroes. They have shown us great love by being selfless. No matter how hard our life was before, they worked hard just for us to finish our studies. They disciplined us so that we can have a bright future. They never neglected us even once. My father passed away one year ago, and we only have our mother. Despite her old age, she still loves to help us in everything the best she can. My parents are the persons whom I will never forget as long as I live.

I know that there are many exceptional people here. This person introduced me to computers as she showed me how to transfer a card catalog into a computer data base.

Not sure that I really have any heroes as such in my life.
I know people who go over and beyond helping others.

@GardenGerty My Mum had a saying 'True friends are like diamonds, precious and rare; False friends are like autumn leaves, found everywhere'. Have you ever heard this?

Wow what an incredible lady. Thankful for people like her who reach out to others. For me our pastor is a hero. He's faithful to the calling God has laid on his heart. He's active in the community, helping families that are struggling, volunteers in school to work with the kids. Blessed to know him. Have a blessed day
