I wrote a comment today and then my eyes went down to the other comments. I don't usually read them.. I was surprised because another person seems to have written the exact same thing as I did.. I then had to change my comment. This got me thinking. Reading comments on others posts could lead to some extra conversation and lively exchanges between the commentators. Do you read comments before you write yours or you just go ahead and write them? Do you get into conversations with other commentators too?

I read everything first - the entire discussion, its responses, and all comments to each and every responses.

@sishy7 Now you give me a good reason why I should never read all the other comments. I guess when you have read everything you tend to feel that way.

Sometimes I read everything first or sometimes I respond and then read everything. I do very often talk with the other responders as it makes for a more lively discussion. Some discussion starters don't like it so I generally avoid their discussions altogether

@Mike197602 Very true.. quite sometime ago there was a whole lot of rumblings and grumblings here about people going off on side discussions.. I guess that is when I gave up commenting on the comments of others as well.. now that you brought this up, I remember.

@sofssu Depends from post to post. I usually put down my comment and then look through the others. At times I do write to another commentator.

You are very @sofssu sincere in your reading habits and I think because of this get a little more out of it than say just skimming. I think it is a good habit to get into.

@skysnap I hardly write one liners but I do agree that it happens with short comments.

I always write my own comment first but don't send it until I've checked that no-one else has said the same thing. I'm surprised that you don't usually read the comments - there's often a lot of fun to be had by doing that.

jaboUK Actually I used to do that a lot until we had some major issue on here about side discussions. That was if I remember right sometime in September last year.. and after that I gave up on reading or posting comments on comments.. now I restrict myself to liking a comment or two when I find something very interesting.

He/she copied you! I wonder how the Admin would deal with that person if reported.. Anyway, I think reading to copy is so stupid, I only read the comments of others when the topic or issue is quite controversial or when the topic asks for some solutions that will also be beneficial to me. Otherwise I don't normally read the comments of others as I really have not much time. Also, let me express my admiration for that photo! It is so lovely, if only I could have it painted in a big canvas to hang on my wall. I love it!

@sofssu I have seen one who responded to my post with exactly the same wordings as the one who commented ahead of him. Oh well, I deleted his comment. I've never seen him since then. We both love trees and plants a lot.

@salonga LOL that would be crazy.. Imagine people just copying comments or reporting them.. I have seen individuals writing the same comment on all posts ( a very generic one).. have you? I don't even feel like responding to such. Thanks .. Trees and plants have a huge place in my heart.

It depends on how many comments there are. I normally don't unless there are just a few, and then I do. I have never come across any though that said the same thing I would have. I guess that is why we are supposed to read them, but I just don't take the time, especially if I want to post more. If I read and read, then I don't get much posting done. I haven't been in here anyway, as I am crocheting baby things for a lady at church. I am having fun doing so too. I do try to come in a little bit though whenever I have time, and want to take a break from crocheting.

@sofssu Once I get the baby blanket done, I will post it, as I have to make 60 squares and assemble them. I am assembling them as I go though, as it makes it easier for me to do so, instead of making them all first and then assembling them. I have almost two strips done now, and I will nees 6 more strips of 10 squarews, so I am getting there.
