John Roberts is on a 'disco theme' right now. He's bringing out some of the top hits from back then and giving some of us a little trip down a memory lane of our own.
Let me tell you a story that I was reminded of because of John's posts....
It was the 80's and my then boyfriend and I got interested in disco and took lessons. Oh I had the disco outfits and we would go out on weekends and put on quite a show. It was a lot of fun, but that was a whole different time....
When Christmas rolled around I wanted to get my boyfriend something disco related. What would be better than a disco ball?! I had no clue where to find one so I decided to drag out the phone book and start calling...but who? A lighting store came to mind. Here's how the first phone conversation went:
Phone at store rings: ring ring ring
Man: Hello, can I help you?
Me: Yes you can - do you have mirrored balls?
Dial tone
After that I decided to ask the question a little more delicately! I can laugh about it now and I still do!
PS: We broke up, he got married and all of a sudden it's 45 years later. We have not spoken in those 45 years. He had his house listed for sale last summer and in one photo there it was - 45 years later - that disco ball hanging in his basement family room....I guess he really liked it.

@AbbyGreenhill it sounded like a kinky anonymous call. It looks like it was the perfect gift.

I was shocked to see it. Now I wonder if he left in that house when it was sold.

I wonder how his current wife feels about it? If she knows where it came from that is.

How interesting that he still had the ball after all these years! Back in those days, my sister and I took Disco Dancing lessons. We had a blast!

oh my go sh you triggered a silly memory 'we had a resident name Wilson who had had stroke that left him partly crippled. He was friendly and lonely so he stopped at our
table us three women, one very prim lady
bu t a good friend. she asked him what he
was up to and he blurted out "I'm going outside after lunch to play with my balls."
Now that was an utterly innocent remark'
he made but she turned purple then scolded
' "you must not talk like that." ' ' ' '
He said :"whats wrong with these golf balls'
Im just going to practice hitting them."
WE all burst into laughter then. Theresa the'
proper started to laugh too then.,

Ha Ha thought of this story the other day and it was today's discussion that brought it back to me again.
