NIPSCO scam?

July 27, 2016 7:16pm CST
A couple of weeks ago people in my town were talking about men coming up to houses and claiming to be with NIPSCO so they could gain entry into your home and rob you blind. They had clipboards, badges, the whole nine yards. I have heard of it before so I wasn't too alarmed. THE NEXT DAY two men came up and knocked on our door. Luckily, my fiancé and his 3 friends were home with me and the baby. Josh answered the door and they said their bit on coming in to check some things out. They looked shocked when Josh told them "No thank you, we're fine." and just kept repeating 'but we're with NIPSCO'. Finally, they left and we all watched them going door to door on our block. Thinking back I wish I would have done more -- maybe called NIPSCO or the police to verify their credentials. Or even talked to my neighbors about it. It also made me think maybe it's time to buy our first firearm. (I do have my CC permit but no firearm yet). What would I have done if I were alone and they had forced their way in? I had no way to defend myself or may precious daughter. Have any of you been victims to scams like this or know someone who has? Let's talk!

Oh..No..it would have been a terrible event to think of. In India also some people do enter the houses in the name of Gas stove repairers and cylinders inspectors. They gain entry into the house and rob people of their valuable.

They used to have to come in the check meters but they changed that to where they just need access to your yard.
