How much do you think is fair to spend on a wedding?
We plan on getting married next June. I thought having the wedding at my aunts house (she has 7 acres) would help save money but I was so wrong!
Now we have to rent tents, outdoor bathroom, fans, chairs, etc. We have already spent so much. I am trying to cut costs where I can but MAN do weddings cost a lot of money.
I'd rather spend money on the honeymoon but I do want the wedding to be enjoyable for everyone - open bar, DJ, etc.
The dress alone is breaking the bank! I found dresses under 1,000 but I don't 'feel like a bride' in those - Is that totally selfish and vain of me? :(
also -- now that we're on this topic ..where did you/would you like to go on your honeymoon?

It's your one special day together, showing a multitude of people how much you love each other.
And am not saying you should break the bank but the effort that you puts in count, there is no limit as to how much money you should spend on your own wedding. But then again time is tough and may be you cant spend too much or to put yourself in debt especially if you have/planing to get kids.
I would love to go to Ocho Rios Jamaica.

Is it really needed so much on dresses. What actually important is receiving guests and treating them with good and fine dinner. Give them good entertainment. They will remember it forever. You can spend the amount more on your honeymoon. Have a nice smartphone. This is the right time to purchase Gold for investment. In the next 2 months or 3 it will add to your funds. Again you can invest it on some other things. Do not spend too much on dresses. In a year or two they become imperfect in size also. This is my personal opinion. Think about it.

How much you spend depends a lot on how many people are invited.

Saw something about DIY weddings the other day, but guess that's not for you .
Worked with a nurse who did $70,000 in overtime to pay for her wedding. She wore a Vera Wang dress, paid for her sister's teeth whitening, etc.

Wedding is a very special occasion for the bride and the groom. The day has to be planned and managed well. They should do everything to make this day the most memorable one. Expenses can be cut off from unnecessary things.
