This year marks the 65th anniversary of my favorite television show, I Love Lucy. The first episode aired on October 15, 1951. Cast members Lucille Ball, husband Desi Arnaz, Vivian Vance and William Frawley have delighted fans of all ages, ever since, with wild antics, frequent misunderstandings, and occasional battles of the sexes. Whether the story involved Lucy's chronic thirst for the spotlight, her accident-prone celebrity obsession, or her certifiably insane scheming, the result was nothing short of comedic genius and television magic.
How many fans are here? What's your favorite episode?
Enjoy the short clip from one of the most famous episodes, "Job Switching."

Me too. When I was a kid, I watched it so many times I had the pitch memorized.

The scene that you linked too is probably the funniest ones ever. She was great!

She certainly was. Perfect Lucy-logic: stuff the candy in your mouth and clothes so the boss will think you wrapped it.

@puddleglum I agree. I love watching old television shows of old time greats. A lot of great ones gone now including Lucy herself.

@Tina30219 Yes. It's a little sad. Carol Burnett was one of my favorites. She's still around, but several of her popular guests and costars like Harvey Korman are gone too.

Those were both great episodes--and iconic moments in television history too.

@puddleglum So do I. There are so many great episodes that it is hard to choose just one.

I forgot about the Hallmark Channel showing those. I don't use cable/satellite anymore, so it's been awhile since I've watched them on there. I agree, this is a great episode. I also like the scene where Lucy gets into a chocolate fight with the other chocolate "dipping" lady.

She was a great comedienne, I will give you that, but I was never a fan. I have a hard time watching that kind of humor or any humor. Not a fan of the comedy genre. I have seen a few episodes from time to time, always with the same sensation in the pit of my stomach.

That's interesting. There are some genres of entertainment I feel that way about (including many programs with the word "reality" stuck in front of them). What kind of shows do you like to watch?

@puddleglum Mostly drama, science fiction has become big for me in the last 20+ years, good romance - not the sloppy stuff - I can't even read romance novels because they make me gag. I have seen a couple really good comedy romances which amazed me that I would like them, but they were very well done, but that is very rare for me. I like action drama, fantasy - Lord of the Rings. That kind of stuff. Once in a while a documentary will catch my interest - especially if it deals with Alaska. I do love the HGTV channel.

@just4him Those are some diverse tastes. I can appreciate that. I also like fantasy, especially the Lord of the Rings.

It just doesn't get any better than I Love Lucy, does it? You watch them a billion times and never tire or stop laughing.

That's the truth! The scene in this clip always has that effect on me. The same is true with the scene where Ricky and Fred are trying to cook chicken and rice (arroz con pollo).

I enjoyed the series - one episode had Lucy nearly drowning trapped in the shower - that was funny though my best memory was that Dezilu productions went on to produce the original Star Trek series

It's one of my favorite shows, for sure. But you're right, that studio gave us some great shows like Star Trek. I also think it's an interesting part of entertainment history that Lucille Ball became the first woman to run a major production studio.

It's a great scene. No wonder Lucy and Ethel felt sick in the end after all that chocolate. As much as I love chocolate, I think I'd feel the same way.

One of my favorites and I have many was when Lucy found out she was going to have a baby and getting interrupted every time she tried to tell Ricky and the look on his face when he was singing the baby song for a couple who's wife wanted to use the song to let him know and when he noticed her in the club knodding and smiling his shock and reaction

Yes! That's a great episode and scene. It's interesting how no one really talked about being pregnant, with child, etc. on television until this point. The script underwent scrutiny before it could be approved.
