My grandmother and my father - many many years ago

“The Greek word for "return" is nostos. Algos means "suffering." So nostalgia is the suffering caused by an unappeased yearning to return.” - Milan Kundera Returning to the thoughts whether they be good or bad . . . Nostalgia. There were a few posts this morning that had mentioned some nostalgia and thus I decided to ponder a few moments on the idea of writing a post myself. “The past is a candle at great distance: too close to let you quit, too far to comfort you.” ~ Amy Bloom Sometimes words elude me and quotes say what I want to say, just in better format. Why not use someones BEST words at that, to describe how ones is feeling anyway, its an easy win-win outcome. “Remembrance of things past is not necessarily the remembrance of things as they were.” ~ Marcel Proust So please indulge in a few of my favourite quotes that will nostalgically remind you of how you should remember. This one is a must: “You should always be taking pictures, if not with a camera then with your mind. Memories you capture on purpose are always more vivid than the ones you pick up by accident.” ~ Isaac Marion and taken from my FB profile this morning is another that reminds us that the past is always with us whether we like it or not! “Scars have the strange power to remind us that our past is real.” ~ Cormac McCarthy Be quietly nostalgic today - remember the Good as they will always outweigh the bad. “By then I knew that everything good and bad left an emptiness when it stopped. But if it was bad, the emptiness filled up by itself. If it was good you could only fill it by finding something better.” ~ Ernest Hemingway Happy Friday

I have such a fondness for quotes and remember everything that was used and normally when it was used (that little photographic memory of mine) Sometimes I remember just one of the phrases in the quotes and put it into my search and there it appears. As perfect as the day it was said.

All the people who came and left us in our lives. Many good things comes to an end but the memory remains.

Everything looks better when looking back, this is a nice quote about nostalgia: 'Nostalgia is a file that removes the rough edges from the good old days.' by Doug Larson
