There are Bees all around

I haven't seen so many bees in a long time. Earlier when we lived in a flat there used to be four huge bee hives hanging from trees and walls of our building. After we moved homes there aren't too many bees in this area. In fact we have fewer trees and gardens around.
Today there was a swam of bees flying about as the children were going back from school. Usually during rainy days their hives get disturbed by some creatures and the fly all around as I have noticed before. I guess its the same thing happening now as its been raining for the last 24 hours now. The children were running helter skelter. I had to call them in and let them go home only after the bees flew away.
I love having bees in my garden they save me the work of hand pollinating the gourds and squashes. Butterflies are sometimes a nuisance though I love having them around. They lay eggs on plants and I have to deal with caterpillars.. Bees are always welcome here.
Do you like having bees in your garden?
This picture was taken last year in my flat.

There is a problem with bees dying in the US but I do still see them around. The powers that be need to find a solution to the bees dying or the entire world could be in trouble.

@fishtiger58 I read about that in the UK to but it seems they have comeback though not in full force in the UK. I don't think there has been much of a problem in the whole of Asia.

@sofssu It's pretty scary to think they could all die, then growing would be a huge problem.

@jaboUK The bees have always been there in large numbers. Its only in this side of town where i have shifted that I find very few of those. I hate caterpillars, they have been attacking most of my veggies and some of my flowers. Though I love having them around I sometimes cannot seem to contain the damage they do to my garden.
There is so much milkweed around and I have a huge container of them in my garden but they won't feed on them... they target my citrus plants. ;(

I love butterflies, I see them visiting my garden always but yes they leave caterpillars that eat the leaves of my citrus plants so I have to carefully remove and kill them from the leaves very often.
I'm afraid of bees so whenever I see one, I always run away. Good thing I seldom see them in my garden.

i adore bees 'n butterflies comin' to visit'n tend to that pollinatin' schtuff. don't mind the catepillars, jest plant 'xtra 'f their fav's, lol. mostly they munch'n my herbs, which's fine coz they grow back'n i get the harvests from then out :)
sadly the bees're scarce 'round here. our native bees don't hive, but're solitary. too many years' f farmers sprayin' their crops, too many city slickers killin' 'em'n their property :( but, i do get a swarm e'ery now'n then 'round the pond when 'tis really hot. they come fer drinkin' 'n who knows? perhaps they enjoy the sounds'f the water 's well...'n then go visit all my plants'n bloom.

@crazyhorseladycx Lol I love them too but they have been eating my citrus plants buds and all, they haven't been eating my herbs.. but the ate up my cabbage, radishes and cauliflowers too. They have been too much of a pest around this place. I even potted some milk weed for them to feed on but they won't go there.. they hang around my veggies only.
Maybe they come there for the sugar water you put out for the humming birds. Its seems the commercial growers only feed them sugar water instead of natural nectar. :(
I love having the bees aroun more though.. they never cause any damage to my plants.

@sofssu here, that'd be those danged grasshoppers. i've yet to get a strawberry 'r mater this year! can't poison 'em without effectin' the other, beneficial critters. the birds/toads/prayin' mantis/spiders/lizards'n others're doin' what they can to help but i fear they're outnumbered 'gain this year.
oddly, i've ne'er seen bees't my feeders? perhaps coz'f all the bird activity? the tanagers, sparrows'n red house finch 're addicted to the schtuff, lol.
yepperz, more bees's a good thingy. 've ya thought'f gettin' some'f those mason bees?? i dunno if'n they'd live'n yer parts, but a friend'f mine 'n british columbia ordered her some'n 'tis jest lovin' the work they're doin' 'round her place.

@crazyhorseladycx You are right, Poisoning is easy but the effect it has on other wildlife is underestimated. We need to get more of those higher up in the food chain to balance out the increasing population of critters that cause harm to our crops.
As far as I am aware of we do not have mason bees here.. I guess what we have is more than enough of the regular kind.

bees help in pollination, but having a swarm of bees from a beehive hanging in a tree poses danger especially to those passersby and who throw stones at it. i was once bitten by a bee and it swelled

@sofssu yes, honey is good, and it is not so sweet like what is always construed. the sting got swollen for a few days until it subsided

Maybe bees populations are rising again. That would be nice. I wrote a post on Bubblews a few years back about a huge bee hive. It was the size of a good sized tree trunk. Huge!

@sofssu .....I think that is a good thing. We need those little guys to pollinate flowers, fruit and such.

@celticeagle I don't think the bee population in Asia ever dwindled.. We have had a whole lot of huge bee hives around our home for many years now

I love bees but I haven’t seen too many of them these past few years. I hope to get some more sunflowers to grow so they might come back but I worry because the next door neighbor uses a lot of pesticides and herbicides which kills them.

@rebelann That is so sad.. why do people keep using these chemical that are detrimental to the survival of the good critters. Thankfully more and more people are becoming aware and using less and less of these and more of natural remedies.. I find people selling ladybugs and earthworms to help nature.

@sofssu I know they are, and right now there is some worry because they are starting to head for the endangered species list as the population drops. So I'm hoping that doesn't happen because if the bees aren't there to pollinate we won't have the crops and flowers we're used to seeing.

I didn't realize that butterflies leave eggs behind, but then again I've not seen too many around my house yet. If I ever get my bag of seeds planted and they grow, then i may have more than I want, but we'll see if it ever gets planted first and then see what may come up if anything.

@MarshaMusselman I agree that those who do not have much of a garden just admire the butterflies and do not realize the harms the monstrous caterpillars cause.

@responsiveme Before I shifted homes I lived in a flat and we were surrounded by bees. They would just visit my flowers everyday.
