Don't Be Such A Baby

I am in the process of talking my older sister on taking a plane ride to Arizona to see our aunt. She is almost 78 and in wonderful health. She is my mom's younger sister, and since my mom passed away in 2003 she has been like a mom to me. She reminds me of my mom very much in looks and the sound of her voice. I call her at least once a month just to chat and we often stay on the phone for hours.
My older sister is not fond of airplanes, but as I told her from Chicago to Phoenix is like 1700 miles and would take at least 3 days to drive one way. We are both retired so we have all the time in the world but neither her nor I want to drive for six days round trip. So I think I have her convinced to take a flight with me. Our younger sister wants to go as well but we were originally thinking about going in October but my younger sister can't make it then. So today I will call my aunt and see if the first week of December is good so my younger sister can join us. My aunt can put us up for the week we are going to be there so that's always a plus.
I can't wait to see her I miss her so. She is my favorite aunt and my only remaining blood aunt.
So when I talk my older sister on getting on a plane I will be making reservations to take the trip. I love my sister but she is such a baby.
The picture I have here is of my coreopsis flower blooming in my garden.

My aunt is very excited. And my sister has agreed to fly. So now I have to book a flight. We are either going in October or December that has to be settled. Thanks I love these flowers too.

I don't like travelling by plane either. I won't refuse; I just find it unpleasant. I can't sleep well. I don't react to turbulence well. I hate being stuffed in a tin can, more or less. But trust me, if I'm flying to Tokyo or Berlin, I'm taking a plane and I'm not complaining about it. At least no too loudly.

I don't like it either but I guess it's the way to go if you want to get somewhere fairly fast. So off we go on our plane ride.

I can relate to your sister's feelings, I don't think that I could get on an airplane either. The fear of claustaphobia coupled with the fear of heights would be too overwhelming for me. I'd probably make it on the evening news-and NOT in a good way-lol.
I love your picture of your flower.

I hope you manage to talk your sister into it. I have a sister who wouldn't fly either until her son moved to Australia to live. The son couldn't afford to come home for a visit, so she eventually plucked up the courage to fly there, and she's been on several plane trips since.

@miniam We could but that might be even harder than talking them into flying, now my younger sister is also going along and she doesn't particularly like flying either. I may have to sit apart from them lol.

I am a baby when it comes to airplanes too but once your sister gets to the destination with you to see your aunt, she will forget about it I bet. :) Driving wouldn't be an option - that'd be too long and a dread to do!
I hope you all get to go soon. :) Have fun!

Good luck getting your sister on the plane, tiger! I will keep my fingers crossed that everything works out for your trip and it is a good one!
I no longer have any biological aunts or uncles.... all have left the Earth behind them.
Uhm... why does it take you three days to drive that distance? I've driven the 1900 (roughly) miles from here to the Pacific Ocean several times in a single 24 hour drive.
Even when Pretty was young, taking her with me only added 3 more hours total to my drive. As a little girl she claimed that females could not use the bathroom unless it was IN a bathroom! She was headstrong even when she was 5 years old!

@fishtiger58 Uhhh... yeah, that might make it a bit difficult to do, then.
It doesn't make any difference to me if I am driving or not.... No motion sickness at all. But then, it doesn't bother me to fly, either. It was just cheaper for me to drive than fly when Pretty and I went to California than it would have been to fly there.

Well my older sister won't travel in a car more than 500 miles a day, we both have motion sickness, so it kind of makes things a little dicey. If I drive then motion sickness doesn't bother me. Now my younger sister is going as well, also doesn't particularly like flying either. I may have to sit apart from them lol.

I wish I also have a baby sister or brother. Just my only sister, older than me, and I in the family. Our parents passed away 25 years ago . . and last month my only sister passed away, too. Sigh! Now I am all alone . . . No sister, no brother, no parents, but I have 4 loving children and 7 unruly but cutie, young grandkids and a wonderful but sometimes grumpy wife.

Well shucks we all get grumpy now and then. I am the 2nd oldest of 5 siblings. Our parents are gone as well. No grandbabies for me yet. My husband and I are older parents, we are 60 and 58 and our sons are in their mid 20's.

I'm thinking that when you have to talk your older sister into getting go that plane that you'll already have made the reservations. I love those flowers, but have only seen them in yellow before. Lovely colors.

@fishtiger58 Is your older sister resigned into making the trip with you all? Take things for her to do so she isn't thinking of being in the air the whole way there. Maybe she will take things for herself, but she may not know to do that either?

@MarshaMusselman Yes my older and younger sister are going, my older sister says she is going to bring a book, so hopefully she won't whine all the way there. Our flight is going to be 4 hours long.
