People, get real. If the police are starting to buy their own bullet proof vests, then I think it a good idea for us to buy the same thing just in case. I already know a few people who are my friends, who have purchased not only hazmat suits but bullet proof vests and helmets to wear in the event of what might come next in the next few years here in the homeland. I am saving for my survival, are you? Let's hope that the next time a gun is shot at a random group of people, that they will not only have on vests but they will have guns to shoot back at whoever it is and put a quick end to things before more innocent people die, that is, sometime in the future. I don't see it getting better, at the moment, I am preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. Nobody wants random killing to happen but isn't it the smart thing to at least be equipped and prepared, just in case?

Although in the ideal world we would not have to even think about this, much less worry, I regrettably have to agree with you. With the rising violence rate rapidly growing what else can we think about, worry about? It's awful to have to wonder if where you live is safe enough to even walk out your door. Still, we push through each day with that thought in the back of our minds.

But that is just what the terrorists want. We need to be brave and not fear them. But just in case, we need to be both mentally prepared and willing to act in a way that preserves our lives and the peace and tranquility of our lives and of those we love.

@lookatdesktop I agree, but it's not just the terrorists we have to worry about. We are killing our own people, and for what? Because they have a distorted version of what loyalty is? Because they want to "prove" themselves? Because they have no respect for themselves or human life. It's very sad but true. I often worry about my children even though they are grown. I know all parents worry but to have to worry about them just going out for an evening should not be. Then there are my grandchildren. They shouldn't have to be raised in a generation that doesn't care about life. So very sad.

I can see liberal groups protesting that if a white man wears a bullet proof vest in a Muslim or African American area, he showing his racism.

@JohnRoberts I would only wear mine under a shirt so it would be hidden. So as not to provoke a confrontational situation.

It is really getting to that point that maybe you should have them if you go to a place where there is going to be a crowd of people there.

I think so. Better still, don't go to any rallies. Stay safe, at home and watch them on t.v.

I will not be walking around in a bullet proof vest just in case someone decides to shoot me. Police put themselves in risky situations by their choice of profession. If they feel they need the vests, they should have them.

It is not fear that motivates us, but preparedness that keeps us. If things did get to the point of wearing a bullet proof vest I would wear one under certain conditions, but I do not feel the need to do it at this moment. Currently I do in fact, avoid public rallies, parades and other forms of demonstration because there is a certain threat that indeed is there, potentially.
