Do You Eat Pomegranate?

As I looked through the window this morning, I noticed a ripening pomegranate so I went down to check if it is already ripe enough for eating. I wrote before that Pomegranate which we call "Granada" in our native tongue was just ignored by us when we were kids because it has nothing but seeds inside. Little did we not know that those seeds are the edible arils with antioxidants greater than those found in red wine, grape juice, cranberry, and green tea. This fruit is said to have anti-viral and anti-tumor properties as well and has lots of medicinal benefits too. Hence this fruit which is sometimes called Chinese apple and 'Jewel of the Winter" is listed as superfood. Do you eat pomegranate? What healthy fruit do you really enjoy?

I don't think I've tasted the fresh ones... besides, I'm not sure I know how to eat the fresh one - do we just swallow the 'seeds'? But I had pomegranate juice and I liked it...

Some discard the seeds after getting the sweet juice just as I do but I just read it can actually be eaten so I think I will try eating the whole seed next time around.

Hey, sishy, the pomegranate is very healthy and the seeds are healthy too. You better chew them and enjoy swallowing them slowly. The juice is good, somewhere between sweet and sour. In my neighborhood, they grow and I just have to walk around and pick some.

@SIMPLYD It is sweet and the seeds can be juiced to make a refreshing drink. Mabolo, yes I know this tropical fruit although it has been quite rare since the trees around were cut to give way to residential houses.

I love pomegranates .. i use it inn all my salads too for color and taste. We drink a lot of pomegranate juice. The dried seeds are apparently used in cooking and the skin is used for medicinal purposes I have read. One of my favorite fruits after mangoes

Yes I do. Although, pomegranate isn't common here in Manila. I do drink a lot of pomegranate juice. As for healthy fruits, I have a long list that includes apples, grapes, watermelon, and lots of different kinds of berries.
