What's on my mind? Ice Cream!

I have been thinking about ice cream recently...not store-bought - home made ice cream. We have a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker and I'm going to dust it off and put it to work!
We went to the local store yesterday and bought the milk and heavy cream so as soon as I can get my mojo moving I'll be mixing up the concoction that will turn into heavenly chocolate ice cream.
I'll worry about what's for dinner later, ice cream is more important right now.

@fishtiger58 Yes I know that, but the recipes in the book are those we've tried and liked. I'm too fussy about food to mess around!

Homemade ice cream sounds yummy but I usually resort to store bought! Though there's an ice cream spot that just opened and I want to visit it. It's made with nitrogen or something I forgot!

@AbbyGreenhill That's a far drive! I am going wait for the hype to go down to visit as the store just opened this week. It's about a 15 minute drive for me.

I saw a place in PA that is owned by Amish and they make the ice cream with nitrogen. Way cool! It would take us an hour to get to an ice cream shop..

You can probably use 'fake' sugar too. Recipe is only 1/2 cup which isn't much overall.

Then you`re not icecream eater/lover or you can say no and mean no.6 magnum bars will not last a day here.

Do you have to pack salt around it in the ice cream maker? Having to buy salt is what keeps me from buying those ice cream machines. At $3 a half gallon buying it at the store is cheaper.

@AbbyGreenhill Heavy whipping cream is pretty expensive its almost $5 for a quart of it here.

No - no salt involved. The ice cream I buy in the store is way more than $3. This cost a cup of milk and two cups of heavy cream - not expensive at all. I had the rest of the ingredients.

@shaggin You only need a pint and I think it was $3.85 a pint at the local store which is higher priced than a big chain.

I have never made homemade ice cream but I can well imagine it is vastly superior to anything sold in the store.

It sure is, only pure ingredients - but then again Bryers uses only pure ingredients too.

That reminds me of when my oldest son was a toddler. We had an electric ice cream machine and we would make ice cream. It was a fun treat to make and enjoy. It has been years since I have eaten homemade.

We made chocolate using cocoa powder which isn't my favorite kind of chocolate. Next time cherry for me!

I remember responding to a discussion I thought it was real. The discussion title was- I'm addicted to ice cream.
The discussion starter told me it was just a parody and it was so funny.
I want an ice cream machine to make myself ice cream from healthy ingredients like a banana, palms, nuts...
It will be so cool to eat and share it with friends and family. Just thinking about it makes me drill.
I just want the machine to be good with a lot of warranty.
I don't want the machine to get broken after a year, like my Prizma smartphone. One month after the end of the warranty, it started to be unresponsive with the touch screen. That's another story though.

@AbbyGreenhill What do you mean heavy duty ?
I guess it is more stable and less complicated than a smartphone, but, who knows.
Can you recommend me about a good ice cream machine ?

Anything you buy you take a chance of it not working - a think an ice cream maker is more heavy duty than a phone!
