What is August

For me, August means my highest electric bill of the year. Like a lot of places, August is the hottest month of the year in Oklahoma. Last August (or the August before) it was so hot my electric company didn't cut anyone's power, even if they were way behind on their bill. They said it wouldn't be humane. August also means local schools will be starting in a couple of weeks. My parent's 41st wedding anniversary is August 29th, but of course she passed away last year. I'm sure there are other things going on, but they aren't coming to me. What is August to you?

August is my birth month. I have always felt lost in the shuffle and forgotten with a birthday off separate from the rest of the family and buried in back to school. August is the month I met my new hubby though, and I told him he was my birthday gift. August, yes it is back to school. One of my favorite jobs was in the schools. Yes, August can be very hot, but June this year was bad on my electric bill.

August is the dreariest month of the year. The hottest. The worst for TV. Life just sort of slumbers in an uncomfortable way. That's why they call it the dog days of summer.

Just like you, a hot month. School will be starting Thursday so people need to keep their eyes open and be prepared.

@AmbiePam When I go to Carl and Beckie's there are two schools on the street I take. I am going to start going a different route and not have to deal with that.

August is the hottest month of summer, most likely our highest electric bill and also when the kids start back to school. I'm sorry for the passing of your mom.

August is supposedly a rainy month in our country just as June and July should had been but I have not seen frequent rain yet. It is still very hot most of the time.

August is like any other month to me. We keep the air on 70 most of the time.

Never associated August with heat. For me it's a lead-in to the autumn season. But of course, I spent several years in Maryland, before moving to Texas and sort of remember leaves starting to change colors around about that time of the year.

Like yourself, August will be the month that we receive the highest hydro bill, that would be July's bill for running the a/c which is our hottest month. Our kids start back to school on the day after Labour Day, so most of the month is the back to school time of the year. It should start to cool down a bit here, and the tomato run will start. The farmers will begin harvesting tomatoes and taking them to the processing stations, so lots of extra traffic on the roads to contend with.

Besides the hottest part of the year, August is the beginning of cool down here. Toward the second half of the month, the nights usually begin to be cooler and I can feel fall in the air! The days are becoming noticeably shorter and I get excited about it. My son's birthday is in August, too.

August is going to be busy for me as I want to do a lot of things with my kids before they go back to school since we weren't able to do much in June or July. The 22nd is my birthday and the 23rd my children go back to school. August is very hot here as well but I won't complain I love it hot!

August means the lowest electric bill of the year for me. We don't need air conditioning anyway, and we have no heating bills.

August is the opposite for me, it's the month when I use the least electric.

August for me as an India means a monsoon month with lots of rain (sometime nonstop for a week or so). Also we literally get no holidays in June and July , but August has got few off days. Not much otherwise , very dormant month.
