Made In China

I think most of us Filipinos or those from other foreign countries think that things made in China are not of quality , because it was said that they make things in mass production .
Yesterday , my hubby’s auntie told us to get lipsticks from a vanity bag she opened from the suitcases she opened. They were new lipsticks and we , mother-in-law , sister-in-law and me, got at least 3 lipsticks each .
We all tried our new lipsticks , and we noticed that they are nice because even if we have eaten and have brushed our teeth , the color is still on our lips .
When I woke up , I saw that my lips has still some tint of the lipstick. Wonderful .
One thing though, is it’s made in China , so hubby warned me it might contain lead and harm my lips.
I told hubby last night that if it makes my lips dark , I will stop using it . But it didn’t and was so nice to use , because it stays on my lips for long and doesn’t mark the glass when I drink water .
So , I can say that this made in China lipstick is of good quality and auntie said they’re cheap when she ordered them online .

I think there is a difference between made in China to be sold in the US and in Europe and Made in China for the Philippines. I have noticed that myself. Those Made in China which I have bought in Europe are of more quality than the things I have bought in the Philippines which are made from China, too. The European countries as well as the US control the products from China very well. The Chinese companies have to meet the quality standard of those countries. Whereas those for the Philippines markets are presumably of bad quality. The lipsticks you got are for the US market and so they are good.

I remember before when people were buying car or motorcycle parts, they looked for U.S.-made and shunned the Japanese-made parts. When the China parts came, people started to look for Japan-made parts.

@sunrisefan Oh , i see . That's logical . Someone has to have it tested first as to quality and by word of mouth that it is also , yet it's cheap , people would already try it .

@SIMPLYD People don't usually trust the latest entry. Later on, when some other "lesser" country manufactures goods, then maybe people will start looking for China-made goods hehehe!

The reason we don't like stuff from China is because much of it is poison. They have sent us poison pet food, toys with lead paint, drywall with poison fumes, baby formula with a vital ingredient left out, cosmetics with lead in them, and other lethal stuff.

Yes, and it's a breaking news everywhere when those were discovered .
Though you know , this lipstick is very nice , light to the lips and the color stayed on even until i wake up even if i have rubbed it with a tissue when i arrived home .
I have researched about this product and found out that it's with aloe vera .

My daddy worked in cosmetics company before and he told us that those cosmetics are really not good for our skin. He told it to my mom as well, I think it is the reason that my mom does not want us to use lipstick. I am not fond of using lipstick that is why whenever other people see me wearing a lipstick, they just cannot believe I have it. My mom says that according to daddy, it really has an ingredient that makes the lips dark.

@SIMPLYD It is good then. I rarely use a lipstick. I just use it when there is an occasion in which I really need to wear a lipstick.

My lips are already a bit dark from using lipstick since i started working 1983 .
But this lipstick , it is so light and it seems to moisturize my lips and my lips didn't darken . I read the bottom of the lipstick and it says with Aloe Vera and Vitamin E . Though , it is made in China .
But maybe since it passed the standard of US , they are being sold there .

I hope you don't get offended when our impression of China made products are inferior . That's because of some news of some China products that were discovered to have harmful ingredients , so that's why people are cautious of buying China made products specially foods .
But i am glad this lipstick made in China is good and have researched too that its ingredients are safe .

I find products from China to be both good and bad. One thing that makes them good is their price. Some products are not any better just have inflated prices. I picked out an article that flagged some brands but it didn't say if they contained lead just said to beware because those brands had not been tested. Also a funny thing I found out also is that we can actually buy "lead test kits with lead testing swabs". Interesting stuff, what things we can do now.
Health authorities on Saturday warned consumers against buying lipstick brands not registered with the Food and Drug Administration, saying these products may contain dangerous substances, such as lead. List of flagged brands included.

There are good products made in China, but they have different productions for different countries. Products sent to the North America and Europe are usually quality products. Anyway I avoid using Chinese beauty products, I do not feel safe using them.

@SIMPLYD Many lipsticks contain lead, even many expensive brands that I will not mention. There is a way to check if there is lead in a lipstick, you can do this at home
Put some lipstick on your hand, use a gold ring to scratch on the lipstick. If the lipstick color changes to black then you know the lipstick contains lead.

That is called magic lipstick and researchers found our that it could cause lip cancer. We should avoid it .The advise is to wash our lips before going to bed, no retention of this magic lipstick, it's bad friend.Better throw it .Just an advise.

You received some interesting comments on this discussion. Never thought that China has different quality standards for products they exported to different countries. That sounds like an unfair trade practice.
Here in the USA, people are pushing against products that are “Made in China” claiming that there are health risks. Although all my life most of the toys I played with were “Made in China”. Never suffered any adverse effects.
These days I don't even look at where a product is made. If I like it and buy it and I'm disappointed, I just don't buy it again. Not to say I ignore clear warnings that have been issued to the public. I know that country of origin is “key” for international trade. But for me, as the average consumer? I don't really care.
Made in China. Made in Mexico. Made in Africa. Made in Australia. Actually a lot of the parts for a completed product come in from other countries and might just be finished at a factory in China, Mexico, Africa or Australia. So? The labels are really misleading. In effect, it's possible Made in USA should likely say “Final Product Manufacturing Completed in the USA with 70% of parts and pieces supplied from various non-US countries”. But who is going to make a label that long?

I see your point , because i am like you too in my perception of buying things . I don't care from where they were made as long as they served the purpose i bought it for .
Though , for lipsticks or cosmetics i am a bit careful because the touch a part of my body . But, with this lipstick , i have researched on its ingredients and found out they're not toxic .

Assembled in China is far different from made in China! Everything in apple is made in California and all the parts are sent to China only for assembling to cut down on production cost. And they just don't hire some cheap companies to do the assembling for them, it still has to pass the Apple's quality check system.

@toniganzon yes i know that but i think there are some products of China that can be made with utmost care making it expensive.i also have seen some mobile phones that resemble these expensive phones but named different like NOKLA for NOKIA, and that makes us believe that China produces 'fake and bogus ' items. Assembling Iphones in China may also show that there are indeed good companies doing this job for them.

Recently I've known that we can't trust the words "made in China" completely. If we want to know about the country which sells it, we should look at the country code mentioned. It's more reliable.
One more thing I'd like to share. Gift from Chinese people to my father to tour them. Its more than 2 years..and they're show pieces. The quality is superb..thick and colorful. And its still good. Recently, one of my relative went to China, he bought me bag and magnet sticker for fridge. And the quality is unbelievable.
I think, its really time to think different about Chinese products. Maybe the other products were never made in China. Or probably, Chinese products HAVE changed its quality.

My Samsung phone is assembled in China , it says . Yet , i have dropped it more than a dozen times , yet it is still so operational.

@RitzzView So you too .
I don't like to put a casing to it that's why . I like it for being so thin so why should i make it thick looking by putting a casing anyway.
