Of Reading and Other Matters

Originally this post was just going to be about how I made my goal yesterday of switching books around. I have had the books you see in the picture on shelves in my bedroom. I've had to keep the shelves covered due to male cats. I decided I wanted to take the books out of my craft/sewing room and put my books for sale in my craft room where the door stays closed. Oh yes, the books in my picture are the books that I have for sale online, mostly on half.com. Along the moving of books I ran into books that I forgot I had....books I want to read....and sadness as I seen so many of our books we used, or didn't get around to using in our homeschooling. I MUST find time to read!! I did get out a book and read a chapter before going to sleep last night. Hopefully that is at least a start. In other matter: OMG! I've been working harder lately with TSU sharing and such. I find today that TSU is closing at the end of this month. This really upsets me. They say that anyone who has reached the payout threshold will still be paid. But that's not me as I am only up to $30 some of the $100 needed. All I can do is chalk it up to wasted time and move on. Now the time I was spending there on my phone will be spent in rabadaba. At least minimum to get paid there is only $10. I went ahead and joined blogbourne. I guess if it ends up closing without paying like so many have done then I will have to chalk that up to a loss later. For now it looks very nice. It's nice that you can earn even without writing too. I was going to write my first post, but found out that they aren't wanting introductory type posts as posts, and that is what I had planned. So, this is a busy day. Mom and I have already been running all morning. I'm doing what I can on the computer, but soon will have to get supper early as it's bingo night at church. Speaking of that, hubby and I are joining a Tuesday night bowling league. Church things are Tuesday evenings, including the bingo that we are in charge of. I have to poll tonight---do we stop doing bingo, or do we change it to a different night of the week starting next month. I better stop rambling and move on. Have a great Tuesday!

I started reading a book I had already started some time ago before going to sleep. I don't get to read in bed when hubby is home though.

@paigea I used to take a book along with me when I ran my mom to various places. Now I work on my smartphone doing things instead. I rarely take a book review offer unless it's a craft book anymore for this reason.

@marsha32 no, reading in bed doesn't work here either

I'm sorry for you that TSU has closed down. I joined several years ago but just never did anything on it. I'm glad now that I didn't waste my time. You just never know about a site but have to realize that there is a risk involved and you have to decide if you are willing to take that risk. I did take the risk by coming to myLot and I'm very happy here.

I was here for years....took me 7 of those years to finally get to my first payout since I rarely came in. Then they stopped paying. I hesitated for a very long time after they started paying again to come in.

@simone10 I used to make about $500 a month doing fun things on the computer years ago. I mean game and trivia type sites. I really miss those days for sure.

@marsha32 I can understand the hesitation. A couple of years ago I joined a site and while waiting for my first payout, the site closed without any warning. That's why I was a little leery when I first came here.

Yes, what just happened to tsu has increased my conviction that I need to depend on my own sites and content, because I can't depend on others.

That is true, and yet another reason that should motivate to get me back to posting to my blog on a regular basis.

@egdcltd But I used to have regular posting that I did for every day of the week, except Sunday. All Business Monday, Tuesday Mail, WIP Wednesday (which I still do) Thursday Reviews, Frugal Friday.

I guess there is only one way to find out as far as blogbourne is concerned. I became a member of TSU about a year ago I believe. I played around with it for awhile but quickly realized I could never reach pay out. Why would they set up such an unmanageable payout amount? They must have had something planned(reminescent of Bubblews) and it didn't come through for them.

@marsha32 ....That's the way of it. At least you can feel pride that you are being honest.

I was a member of Tsu for all of two weeks before I decided it wasn't for me and closed my account. I'm so grateful that I didn't waste a lot of time there. I'm sorry it worked out so badly for you. I hope BlogBourne works out better, but I tend to be wary of any new site that comes along now. I'm a member too, but I'm undecided whether to put much effort into it until I see others getting paid.

I see that we can cash out for as little as $5 paypal but I don't see how many points we need for that? Maybe it's like swagbucks and each point is worth a penny? I think I have 244 points right now.

@Gina145 any explanation of when we can cash out? Like maybe a button will show below the cash out if we have enough points for it? I seen on the leader board today that the top person has over 5,000 pts and many have over 3,000. If they can't cash out yet then I am FAR from cashing out.

@marsha32 BlogBourne was in beta until a few days ago. The owner initially said that the first payments would be made two months after the official launch, but he has since said that it could be after one month. I'm not putting much effort into the site so I haven't bothered to investigate further.

I'm glad you found a way to keep your cats away from your books, that's a plus. Sad about TSU,. I had joined that but never earned anything or found a way to do so, so didn't last too long with that site. I haven't heard of those other sites. Bingo sounds like fun, so does bowling.

We have always loved bowling on a league and haven't done so since the bowling alley building was sold to a large church. It took them years to finally get a new bowling alley built here. It's been open for at least a year, if not 2 now. We really can NOT afford it, but at the same time we do nothing that is just us and doing so might help us grow closer again as a couple.

I tend to not join anything that has a high payout threshhold. I am sorry about tsu for you.

I actually only joined as a place to that allowed us to post things like my etsy items, or my blog posts etc. It wasn't until recently that I decided to really get with it to try to make the $100.

I gave up on tsu long before it closed. It was too time intensive and seemed to play favorites. I met some new people there, which I appreciate, but there were too many changes too fast and I simply couldn't keep up after they started groups. It was hard enough to keep up with friends and challenges. I only had accumulated $11, so I didn't lose as much as some. I still like BlogBourne, but I wonder how it will survive without Kyla, who has been MIA almost everywhere lately, including on her own FB group. I'm putting all my effort into my own sites and Niume now.

are you at blogbourne? I am marsha32 there too. I've only written one post and probably won't post more than once a week, but I plan to visit daily for the point for going in and then look at a few posts by others while I was there since we earn for that and commenting too.

So many of these sites are biting the dust these days that I am not inclined to start posting anywhere. Blogjob and TSU have been the latest.. Thankfully I don't lose much there.. But I feel bad for all the time people have wasted there when they could have earned somewhere else. Happy reading to you.

mercy, that's a lot'f books! when i do a clean-out 'f such, i jest donate 'em to the library, lol. aint got the time nor inclination to try to sell 'em 'n then get 'em shipped off. online writin' places jest seem to spring'p 'n then dry'p purty quickly 't seems. shame ya 'lost' all that time 'n effort. i think that such aint proper, they ought to pay folks what they've earned if'n they're closin' the doors - regardless 'f if'n they've made payout 'r not. i dunno when ya 've the time fer all that'cha do. jest makes me dizzy thinkin' 'f such :)

There was one gal on gather, then bubblews who had over 2500 books in her stock that she sold online. That's about what you need to continually be selling. She gave up her business a year ago or so. My goal is to finish filling that bottom shelf and then the very top shelf as well. As long as I am listing I seem to sell 1 book a week. Some sell for very little, but like the last one I sold, I earned $15 for that one.

@marsha32 It sounds like you are a very busy person with sites, bowling and books. I hope you sell your books.
