He came, he came!

I don't know with other culture but I grew up believing that the sudden appearance of a butterfly/moth in the house means a relative who passed away came for a visit. Others say it serves as a reminder for those who have forgotten their loved ones in heaven.
So this morning, this huge brown of a butterfly/moth (can't tell the difference) greeted me a sunny sunshine. Immediately I knew who it was. August 4th is my grandfather's death anniversary. Though he didn't have to remind me at all because I never forget his day, I was happy for the short visit. He even gamely posed for a picture.
Do you have the same experience?

All we have to do to get moths to visit is leave on a light and leave the door open. We'll have all the moth visitors anyone could ever want.

@sol_cee bless her heart many folks believe that horses 're only 'good' 'til they're 'bout 10 years'f age. mainly coz they've injured 'em whilst all their bones were still knittin' (some breeds, particularly large breeds, that can be 7 years)

@sol_cee there's various reasons fer a horse to cross o'er that rainbow bridge. natural causes such's'n aneurysm, severe case 'f twisted gut, stones, kidney disease, ulcers 'n the like. some make't to the ripe ol' age 'f 42 ( i believe that's the eldest i've heard'f anyhow).
most folks don't seem to realize that they can live a long, productive life :)

When I was a kid we had an infestation of teeny moths. They were living in our food closet. Mom had to vacuum them up every night, dump a bunch of infested food, and switch to containers with tight lids.
We must've been pretty blessed!
On a lighter note, I've never heard that about moths before. Do you know where the story came from?
That's a pretty moth. We don't have 'em that good-looking here.

I don't. But how I wish it were true so every time a butterfly or butterflies would visit my home, it would make me feel good to think they were my parents.

Since my husband passed away, people have told me all sorts of signs to look out for. I've never had any of them happen to me. And yet I can feel when my husband's spirit is around me. It's all very strange. Who knows what's real and what isn't?

@sol_cee It's never easy to lose someone you love. And it never gets easier no matter how old you get. So we remember them, remember the laughter and the best days and keep them alive in our hearts. And smile for whatever signs we are blessed enough to get.

@sol_cee Y'know it's kinda sad.. But thanks to you, I now know why butterflies are used in the anime "Bleach" to signify the coming of a shinigami or transfer a soul to the afterlife... And I've been a Bleach fan for eleven years... Curse my American ignorance...

@sol_cee Yeah, but I should've figured that out, as a lot of manga creators tend to draw inspiration from Japanese lore, beliefs, and history... So I should've figured that the butterflies in Bleach were based off of a Japanese belief... I'm so slow at times! Dx
