against myself. Yes, I do like to compete with my own self. What I did good today, I can do better tomorrow.
Went cycling at 6am this morning as I intend to beat my speed two weeks ago. I did it. I increased my speed climbing uphill by 2kmph. You might laugh at this but from the previous 10kmph climbing up a hill, I beat my own record at 12kmph this morning. I could go as fast as 45kmph on a flat road though.
Next week, I plan to keep the speed at 15kmph.
Do you compete with others or you compete with your own self?

Mine is an old treadmill with a cycle pedal. recently I've been using it for a twenty minute exercise, but I slip back and my old weight came back. Now, Im starting over again this august with a hardly 30 minute pedal no stop I want a bike and cycle but too afraid to face the roads here since vehicles are ran by amateur race car drivers

and there's a lot of road rage accidents there. Drivers there are stupid and non respectful of cyclists.

@Letranknight2015 yeah that idiot who lied about what truly happened. As a cyclist myself, I was devastated. It was the talk of town among cycling groups here for weeks. WE just couldn't get over what we saw in the video.

I think it's the right way to live rather than compare ourselves to others and compete with them, it's best to just focus on our own success.

@toniganzon I also won the race this morning (against myself). My favorite sport called "push up." I do push ups every morning before taking the shower and going to work. I used to do 25 push ups only. I decided to do more. So, this morning I did 30! Whew, my tongue was wagging due to exhaustion! I am doing this to develop my STAMINA for future use. How about the wagging of my tongue! For future use, too! Like eating Magnolia ice cream . . .

for future use. Surely that would help your stamina and endurance as well!

I don't do that with my online earnings. They're just too small lol!
But I do try to double my earnings every month with my offline business. The highest so far was 14 million in a month. I failed to make it to 20 million.

Yep but there's one here that made a comment that competing with one's self doesn't give peace of mind. Which is odd.

I used to compete with others before but now, I think it is much better to compete with my own self. Congratulations for making it.

@toniganzon Yes, that is what I have observed too. No peace of mind because if we compete with others, we will be always comparing ourselves to them. It cannot happen because we are unique individuals.

@annierose sure, our individuality defines who we are and we need to see our own potential and not what other's can or can't do.

I usually don't compete against myself, I do check my improvements, but, I don't try harder.
If what I do becomes easier for me, that's good, if not, then I let my body decide.
If I see my results are lower, I lower the level as well and the improvement comes back.
I don't try my best I can, I just keep my usual results in the wanted range.
I do try to find ways to save time by the way I do things, not by trying harder, I do them more efficiently, in a smarter way.

I don't like being stagnant. I'm a go getter. If I make a million today, I make sure I'll double it by tomorrow.

@stringer321 I just believe that to do better, I have to make much better than I did today. I find peace and comfort in my own success.

@toniganzon I don't think it is so needed to race and try harder every time. I am based on peacefulness :-)
Still, with a moderate effort, I look for better ways to do things and to save time.

Competing with one's self is improving yourself every single day. No difference in that. Because the person you are today and is the same person you were yesterday. And you are reaching your goal when you compete with your own self.
Competing with others will only make you vain and bitter.

Same here. I don't want to compete with others. I competed with others when I was young and it only made me so envious and bitter. But I realised that it should be better to compete with myself and improve my own self and be content.
