Engagement: Would you return it or not?

Yesterday, when I was on the bus, I heard this topic on the radio, "Would you return the engagement ring to your soon to be husband if you don't like it(the design and everything) or not?" How would you tell him if you don't like the ring or it doesn't fit to your likeness? To all the engaged ladies out there, how will you manage if this happens to you?
