Making Money for a Good Cause

A family friend once told me that as he was driving along one day, issuing his usual blessings on all the other drivers, a small voice came from the back of the car where his three-year-old daughter was sitting: “Daddy, why are there so many bloody fools on the road when you’re driving?”
Over the years, I’ve noticed that Rik has the same problem. They’re all on the road when he’s driving! However, it’s contagious. My daughter remarked the other day that Rik doesn’t issue so many blessings as he used to because, although I don’t drive, I’ve learnt to do it for him!
We went on from this to discuss the practicality of having a swear box in the car. Perhaps contributions could vary according to the seriousness of the profanity.
But what to do with the money gained thereby?
I forget which of us came up with the answer, but the suggestion was that we could contribute it to a good cause. Perhaps one supported by our church.
And my daughter assures us that she’ll tell them who’s been instrumental in contributing the greater sum!
Do you think this is an ethical way of raising money for a good cause?

I live in NYC and there is always profanity and yelling when it comes to drivers. Some people try to cut into other lanes and speed up and almost hit others. No regard for anyone else on the road. Do I get angry? Yes I do. And for good reason. I don't think we will ever stop people from yelling and cursing when driving. As for saving money for a good cause, you don't need an excuse to do that. Just decide to donate money to a cause you like. Or feel strongly about.
