It took a little doin but finally I found the ending theme song of Gunsmoke from 1955, something about the clippity clop sound is what I like about it, go figure.
I noticed that the ending theme changed over the years.
Are you old enough to remember this epic western?
As represented from the Youtube.com version, these are the season 1 closing credits to "Gunsmoke" and at the end is the 1976 Viacom V of Doom logo with the 1...

I do remember it and I fell in love with Burt Reynolds when he was on the show. I even got an autographed picture from him

I'm looking for the 6th season right now @BelleStarr but I'm having no luck. I tried YouTube but they mostly show the first few seasons or else I get the last few seasons. Who knows, maybe Starz will offer the newer seasons at some point, if they do I'll reup my subscription.

I think I watched every episode twice. Or maybe three or four times, Dad loved the show and so did my husband ( re-runs).

Gunsmoke is the greatest TV western. Several channels play episodes and I have seen just about all of them.

I used to watch Gunsmoke back in the 60s because that's what dad watched but I just now saw the first 5 seasons. It's fascinating to watch all those TV icons I grew up with when they were not yet icons, I saw Charles Bronson one one episode of the 1st season among so many others.
Did you know that Ken Curtis appeared on a lot of episodes during the first season but not as Festus?

I didn’t get to that episode yet, in the first 5 seasons Dennis Weaver was still the sidekick but Ken Curtis played villains, cowboys driving herd and farmers. I think he appeared at least 5 times in the first 3 seasons. I hope I get to watch seasons 6 through 20 one day.
Ya know, I never thought I’d like a western but now I see what dad liked about it. They never played the first 5 seasons back in the 60s and I never saw any reruns once I was out on my own, if they ever did reruns @JohnRoberts

@rebelann Yes, I have seen Ken Curtis in episodes prior to Festus notably a story where he played "Lover Boy"!

I watched the first 5 seasons on a streaming TV service recently, I'd never heard this rendition of that theme ..... the newer theme isn't as good.
I don't watch regular TV so I haven't a clue if it's on one of the channels .... I don't even have cable anymore.
