I can't cook. I can slice and cut the needed ingredients for a specific recipe and do the dishes after but I can't be like my super chef mom. I adore how Gordon Ramsay whip something from scratch. In fact I like watching every cooking show available on TV. Yet I can't apply all those learned theories into practice. Sad, sad situation.
***
I can't give advice. When friends come to me during heartbreaks or when life turns cruel on them, I can offer nothing but my listening ears. I just let them blow off steam until they can huff and puff no more. Occasionally, I have Kleenex but they know what to expect. Sad, sad situation.
***
I can't crack jokes. Easily. My jokes require deep thinking before one can actually get the punch line. Therefore it's not funny. I've been to many awkward moments when people don't know whether to laugh or not at my bad attempt at humor. Sad, sad situation.
***
How about you?

@sol_cee Oh yes, she always would say this is so delicious , when she eats already . I don't ever hear that from my in-laws who are passive people .
My husband wouldn't voice out that he likes my cooking but you can see the way she gobbles up the cooked viand .

i can cook a few dishes, but i'd rather help.
people tell me their woes, i ask questions, give suggestions. but i don't seem to get the same treatment.
i'm a poor joker, i can't even retell funny stories effectively.
sometimes i can tell the punchline and just keep quiet, but sometimes i don't get the joke and it has to be explained to me.

@sol_cee i only add borders and watermark them. i don't enhance them like brightening up the colors, etc. what you see is what you get, warts and all.

I am like the guidance counselor of my friends and relatives who often seek my advice without pay. I don't know if i am really a good counselor or they just like the fact that I don't charge them anything. . But you know, [seriously this time] there are times you need not even give advice to a hurting friend who came to express her sorrow. Just offering your listening ear, your good shoulder to cry on, your tears to fall with hers, and your warm embrace to show her she is not alone are already sufficient in most cases.
By the way, I am good in singing but not in dancing. I also am good in cooking but not in baking. I am of course an expert in gardening and home decorating. My husband could testify.

I like your ability to listen and give advice.
My ex girlfriend is very sad because we broke up 3 days ago, she even didn't go to work and she told me she couldn't live without me. I hope she will get over it because, my intentions were good, I wanted us to e a happy couple, but, I didn't love her as much as I hoped to. Getting married is a big deal and responsibility, and with her, I didn't feel I would want it.
Any advice you can give me or her ?
What kind of gardening do you do ?

i agree with many'f the rest - bein' a good listener 'tis a wonderful quality to possess. most oft folks don't really wish advice anyhow, jest an ear who'll take the time to listen.
's fer cookin'? ya jest need to practice :D throw caution to the wind 'n 'fter a while, yer gonna get the hang'f 't.
fer myself? i know nothin' that i'm 'good 't'.

I can cook, but it is a hit and miss thing. Sometimes it can be delicious, sometimes not; I could not get the right ingredients.

Oh good grief..! There you are. I've been looking for an assistant cook and dishwasher. We are good in some things that other people are lacking. Sad situation, it's not. We are unique.

Until now, I am still in the process of identifying my niche. I just know what I love to do but if I am good at it, I think it is too early for me to make an assessment. Just like you, I also do not know how to cook. I can help them in preparing for the ingredients but not in cooking.

@sol_cee Yes, I love travelling but I cannot travel as much as I want to because of my jobs. I think I am just good in researching . That's all.

cooking is one of my passion.. and they also say i'm a good listener and a friend who can always be there when you need someone to talk to.. and just like you my jokes require deep thinking.. sometimes, it's not intentional, they just burst into laughter even if i don't intend to throw a joke..

I don't tell jokes well. I always mess them up.
I can't sing.
I can't draw.
I have a black thumb when it comes to gardening.
I can't write a book.
I can bake bread...but I can't really eat it without the wheat affecting my badly.
I can't lose weight.
sigh.
Dang, @sol_cee! You've got me reviewing all my bad traits again.
Hulk sad!

It's interesting you should post this. We've been having a sermon series at church about where we fit in the body of Christ. Not everybody is cut out to do the same thing. We all have a unique place. The same is true in society as a whole. We all have our unique talents and gifts. You can't cook, but you can prepare the ingredients. You can't give advice, but you can listen, and listening is sometimes the most important thing a person can do in that situation. As for humor, it takes a good humorist to pull off a good joke. Even I can't do it. You have some great talents. Don't sell yourself short.
