Call The Dectectives, My Plant Is Missing

When we left this morning to go to the grocery store all of our plants were sitting in their own personal spots looking pretty. When we got home one of our plants were conspicuously missing.
As I walked up my walkway to my front door I thought to myself that something wasn't right. I couldn't quite put my finger on it but I knew it not the same way we left it.
Then I saw it, a hole where a plant was when we drove out of our driveway. Where the heck did my beautiful Mexican Petunia go? Who pulls a plant out of the ground and takes off with it?
My husband is on his way to buy another plant to put there even as we communicate. I just can not understand why someone would do this. If it wasn't happening to other neighbors I think I might take it personally.
I guess someone felt they just couldn't live without my little plant. Has this happened to you?

I've heard of pet detectives but never plant detectivesmaybe there's a gap in the market in your area and a plant detective would do well
No it's never happened to me but I've not had a garden for years...I've heard of garden ornaments being stolen but never plants.
If it's happening a lot in your area maybe get a cctv camera for your garden?

@Mike197602 you may have come up with a new career. We are going to have to do something. We have lost several gnomes, an angel, a couple of frogs, and two plants.

Something like that did happen to me years ago when I lived in Connecticut! I'd gone out and when I came back home, one of my flowering plants in front of the house was missing. I could see the hole in the garden where it had been dug up. As I stood there scratching my head, I happened to see a little girl walking down the street carrying the plant in her hands. I ran down the street and caught up to her and asked why she stole my plant? She said she wanted to give it to her mother. I walked her right back to my house and had her replant it and waited for her apology. She ran back home and I never had a plant stolen again.

That's never happened to me personally but I have heard of it happening. Still pretty sad to think that someone would steal a plant from your yard

@Marilynda1225 people aren't like they used to be. It seems there are some out that that think what is theirs is theirs and what is yours is theirs.

Someone literally dug out your flower plant? They can't get their own to plant?

@JohnRoberts. It looks more like they pulled it out of the ground. I thought the same thing. It's not like it's an expensive plant.
