Death tax?? What death tax?

GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump has pledged to end the death tax, one he finds so burdensome to American citizens. This tax is actually called the Federal Estate tax.The simple fact is that, unless you have an estate of at least 5 million dollars (as Donald may or may not have, no tax returns yet) you will never pay a dime of this tax. Every four years the GOP candidate drags this pledge out of the dusty corner of the political pledge closet and runs it up the old flag pole for the benefit of his parties' wealthy contributors. I don't know anyone personally who will have an estate of 5 million dollars, do you?

Not hardly. He is out for the rich and I am so sick of him and his ways I could scream. I am seeing where he is way below Hillary in the polls and I so relieved to see it. Now I just hope it lasts.

Maybe he figures that if he gets assassinated this will benefit his family. Another thing that gets dragged out every election is the making your tax return public. A nice document that was already sanitized for the IRS and is unlikely to show anything meaningful even if the politician in question is a crook.

Nevertheless, they should be released, it seems to me. His would be a revelation.

The only reason he won't release it is that it WOULD be bad for him--VERY bad. What's the point of refusing, otherwise?

@JamesHxstatic @AliCanary He may be withholding it for dramas sake like Romney did previously. When ever politicians release that information it is just for show. Tax returns are not terribly informative for the general public. Keep in mind it has already been sanitized for the sake of the IRS. It won't tell you anything about who he's ripped off. It won't tell you anything about shady or illegal business dealings. That stuff won't be on his tax return. If the IRS didn't find anything to get upset about, we won't either and neither will the media. The only thing he might want to hide is the fact he might not be as wealthy as he says he is.

The song lyrics from “Ball of Confusion” performed by the legendary Motown group, The Temptations say “Politicians say more taxes will solve everything.” The POTUS hopeful is promising lower taxes not more! He can do that because technically, he's not a “politician”. That's why he got nominated. Right? “We the People” are tired of politicians. Right? Great googalooga, can't you hear me talking to you? Sayin'... ball of confusion. That's what the world is today, hey, hey. … And the band played on.

Out of the hundreds of friends and acquaintances I have, I can only think of two that might qualify for this tax. Now that you've shed light on the topic, it does seem kind of silly that politicians keep "trumping" this every four years! lol

@JamesHxstatic Politicians count on the ignorance of the voting public. Otherwise, if we were any smarter, we would either vote all those bozos out of office or else we'd overthrow our corrupt government.

Yep, the GOP brings it up all the time and the ignorant applaud.

And all the people cheered when he said this, as if it was something that might affect them. They have no clue.

No. If you had 5 million it would be swallowed up by the nursing home you stay in at the end.

@JamesHxstatic - Ha Ha! Maybe the GOP wants to start charging us to die, so later they can announce they will stop doing that! No, I don't personally know anyone who will have to pay the Federal Estate tax. Trump probably just wants to save money for his own estate. He may not be a billionaire, but surely he could at least pull together 5 million dollars in assets. Of course, I have heard that his businesses are down 14% since he has been running for president. Everything he says is weird, as far as I'm concerned. As for today's speech, it was just the normal GOP speech and Trump probably didn't even write it. He just read it from a teleprompter. The debates should be interesting, when he actually has to remember what he has promised in the past!

@JamesHxstatic - I agree that it was a pretty thin code. He obviously was not talking about "second amendment people" getting together to vote, like he is saying now, because he was talking about what they could do AFTER the election. Unbelievable!

Seriously, and why in the WORLD any poor people vote for Republicans (not just Trump, but ANY candidate) is beyond me--they are simply voting against themselves in every way.

I cannot stand Donald Trump. He's not a politician, he knows nothing of it. A secret is that all the money he makes isn't exactly his. As for those 5 million, I don't know anyone with that much. All I know is, he better not win the presidency.

@JamesHxstatic I completely agree. The things he says can get him into deep trouble and if he were president, I fear we'd all be doomed.
