What sort of dance? Seriously...I think Laendler in "The Sound of Music" was very graceful stuff... While I do not understand much of Swan Lake, some ballets are really beautiful. Can't thank YouTube enough for letting me know about them. We Indians have some good dances, but many of them are solos. I have had the opportunity to see some really great dancers so I know what passes off as Indian dance and culture NOW is T R A S H. I think dancing is beautiful. It reflects inner joy and gives pleasure to others watching as well. I don't dance. But I do enjoy good dances from whichever parts of the world they are... Which dances do you know...and can dance. For now...I think the Irish have it, the Irish have it, the Irish have it...with their step dance...lol. @pgntwo...thank you for more than potatoes.

I dance the modern dances in the 80's . Disco was the craze then that's why and we would go discoing until the wee hours of the morning on Fridays and Saturdays .

When I was young our parents hired a dance instructor to teach us how to do the ballroom dancing. We were required to learn everything from the waltz, to the chacha and the tango. My family were often invited to a ball and it would be too awkward if we didn't know how to dance then.

Ballroom dances means...wow...but how do you identify the music that requires you to tango or chachacha....or salsa...or waltz..

I've actually seen Riverdance live, twice. They are brilliant. I don't dance nowadays but used to do a bit of ballroom dancing, and twisting and shaking You don't have to understand Swan Lake to enjoy it.

As I said, it reflects inner joy and sometimes it comes naturally...even to folks like me...who know nothing about dancing ...some steps seem to come naturally when there is some joy. :) I guess you should continue dancing in some way...if you love it. :)

I dance?! May be yes, But I know it worse. Well, I love to see dance, but when it comes to me its not at all professional. So you can say that I do dance, but only with big crowd (like many Indians do).

Oh, thank you, recognition at last... I keep telling you, potatoes were introduced to Ireland, originating in South America... But I am prepared to overlook that as River Dance is truly Irish :).

And simply awesome...love so many of those YouTube clips on them..absolutely amazing...now as to potatoes..are you sure...I mean, it could have originated in ireland, and for some reason it incurred ire of the irish, and escaped to South American coast, and came back to Ireland stealthily...surreptitiously

@vandana7 Combining dance, storytelling and history, this may help clarify the origins of the humble spud - it is quite strongly accented, so prepare to listen hard... .

No. I don't really know how to dance. I don't how I passed my subjects that required dancing. Good thing my kids are good dancers. Their talent obviously did not come from me.

I can't dance. I have no rhythm what so ever. I kind of look like a chicken that had it's head cut off and it running all over the place when I start to dance. I am pretty good at slow dancing though because that is a lot easier to do then other dancing. I don't believe songs that tell us what to do in the lyrics is dancing and I feel like it doesn't take much talent or skills either. I can do the cha cha slide but then again so can most 3 and 4 year olds.
