Look Up-Look Way Up- Starting Now- Perseid Meteor Shower is Here!

Apparently it's been around for a while- but the Perseid Meteor Shower is here and at its peak it promises to be the best show since 2009! Why? Because the earth is passing closer to the centre of the comet debris from the Swift-Tuttle Comet. That's where the Meteor shower comes from. From EarhSky News, "Every year, from around July 17 to August 24, our planet Earth crosses the orbital path of Comet Swift-Tuttle, the parent of the Perseid meteor shower. Debris from this comet litters the comet’s orbit, but we don’t really get into the thick of the comet rubble until after the first week of August." However this year, the earth has been pulled a little closer to the centre of the debris and so scientists predict an "outburst". This means more meteors than other years- they actually say double- so this is a special year. If you're in the Northern Hemisphere up to half-way down to the southern Hemisphere you could just catch the outburst.
