What is my core competitiveness?

I've been working as an java developer for almost 7 years,but i really get lost for what is my core competitiveness compare to my peers or those who just have 3-5years experience,where will my career go? i feel like i am rowing a boat without a paddle.

I think you need to meet some HR friend of yours and ask them to know what should be the answer for such question. Core competence sounds like too vague for someone to answer their entire life. besides as a developer you can confirm to the fact that you work on different project and go through different circumstances. giving single core competence out of all the 7 years experience is too modest and vague answer to jot down in my opinion. so just find out with HR friends what type of answer they expect.

@xiaoyan2 I am in IT too.. I worked as a developer and now work as automation tester in data science startup. I came across such question plenty of times. I usually consult with HR for such question, that way I can be specific for answer. they look at resume and based on that they ask this question... so it helps if you consult with some HR for this.

WOW seven years, I think your just intimidated by these peers of yours. What do you want in life that depends on how your competitiveness will go? I mean are you even happy with what you're doing? Think about it. If your not motivated then something must be wrong.
