# 32 Let's just have a bit of fun remembering trends from the '90s... 1. Choker necklaces - everyone's wearing one... I had a black ribbon one... And I remember something like the more you had on meant the more popular you were... 2. Slap bracelets - they came in all the fun colors and trendy designs... 3. Mood rings - they supposedly changed colors as your mood changed... 4. Butterfly clips - still have one that I occasionally wear to this day, but I remember girls wearing several of them at once on their hair back then... the more, the merrier... 5. Baby-G watches - wearing huge Baby-G Shock watches was a big deal then... Those were stuff I remember having from the era - what else do you remember?

I must have been living in a different era from you, or perhaps just a generation or two farther on.

I loved the nineties. The pants were a lot more ample in the legs and then I could actually find pants that fit.

@sishy7 Problem was playing basketball and cycling everywhere. My waist was quite narrow and my legs were and are well muscled. Anything close to my waist size wouldn't even pull up halfway.

@koopharper I have non-skinny legs too... My sister said it was because I did ballet for many years up to my teen. I'm not even sure that's the reason for my fat legs...

I know what you mean... I can never fit in those trendy skinny pants - I see people wearing them and I cringe as they look like they'd hurt somehow...

All I can remember of the 90's are the kinds of materials I worked with like taffettas, cords, linens, satins and silks ... and I remember making a lot of lacey wedding dresses with puffed sleeves .. lol ..

Would you remember something from the '70s? I was too young to remember then, but I heard choker necklaces and mood rings were around then too...

The main thing I remember from then is Global Hypercolor t shirts. I was at junior high then and everyone was buying these t shirts that changed colour with heat...I never had one though

For some reason I remember 80s more than the 90s at least in the way of fashion. I am thinking "grunge", but that's never really been my style. I think I was into "sexy" clothes at that time. Plus mid 90s I was on the ice a lot so I was more about athletic wear and skating attire.

@sishy7 I am so not with it that I had to look up what tube tanks were! Ah, I actually did not wear those! I guess the 90s was when I was finally out of college and we could be so independent having real jobs. I liked those lower priced fashions from stores like Forever 21 and back then they had a lot of night clubby looking stuff . . . tight, a bit revealing but tasteful.

Yeah, '80s was high school, college, and no kids yet so we were more into what's trending perhaps... I think tube tanks were in around '90s, could that be part of your "sexy" attire?

The best thing about slap bracelets are they wrap tightly around your wrist and won't fall off no matter how skinny your arms are... I cannot wear bangles for the same reason...

I think the 90's had a lot of Punk rock influence as exemplified by the accessories you mentioned, of course punk rock decended from glam rock of the 70's that's why I see a lot of similarities.

Oh, you're right... I think some of the clothing were also influenced by the music genre... platform shoes and denims... there were no skinny jeans back then - in fact, the bigger flares, the better they were...

I did not follow the trends in the 90's, I was no more young enough, but I remember that many things were copied from the 70's, large pants, plenty of necklaces and bracelets and so on.

@sishy7 Yes they do. I have seen that the lace dresses are back in fashion. I still have two that I wore when I was 19. It's time to take them out from the trunk.

I loved the slap bracelets and I've even seen some now days! They was so cool. I also loved the mood Ring's and highly believed in them as a kid. Something I can remember was the bright red looking lipstick in which didn't go on red but it changed colors. I loved them.

Oh, I don't remember the lipsticks... I recently see slap bracelets in one of the fashion jewelry or accessories stores... They were also handed out to prospective students during an Open House of a college down here...
