What happened to myLot previously?

From browsing around I've realised about a year or so ago, myLot stopped paying its users and many people left, causing the site to die down as people called it a "twitter clone". I'm actually curious to find out more about what exactly happened. It appears there are many veterans here with tens of thousands of "Activity Points". I think I'm currently under a hundred. I'd like to know your stories of what happened!

I have been a long time member of the site. There apparently was a change in the ownership and they decided that they would not offer an incentive program anymore. There were other changes as well. For a time we were allowed to promote writing we did offsite. If you look at some of my old discussions you might see that. When the incentive program was restored many of these rules were changed back. Those old discussions were just grandfathered in to avoid problems. Some of them violate current rules so make sure they don't mislead you into thinking that it's okay. If you stick to current activity, you won't run into things like that. While the site was non-paying, I didn't visit much. A lot of my friends did the same thing and then returned when the program was restored. It wasn't a matter of leaving the site, we were just doing what we do here somewhere else.

Thanks for responding! May I know, where else you went? It appears many sites like myLot came and went already and no longer exist. Also, do you know who owns myLot now / where it's based?
