What is your favorite comfort food?

United States

Is it a family secret recipe or just something that became your favorite comfort food meal over time? My kids are all partial to the homemade scalloped potatoes that my mother in law (rest her soul) taught me how to make. I think that's the biggest reason.. because it reminds them of their grandmother. It is a great dish though. Everyone seems to like it.

A nice tender roast with mashed potatoes and gravy. That's the first meal that comes to mind.

Do you cook it yourself? Here in the Philippines, we seldom roast food. We usually fry or grill them. We have roasted food restaurants though.

Okay, my husband would vote for roast too. I like it as well, but it is probably his favorite thing.

We have KFC here. I like their chicken but I like the spicy variant more. I don't really like their gravy, mashed potatoes, and mushroom soup since that was all I ate when I first had my braces.

I have a weakness for spaghetti which I could eat almost every day. I would go for pizza, but I haven't found an organic pizza delivery place yet ...... I'm not skilled at makin homemade pizza.

Homemade pizza is so good. We have family pizza parties sometimes, and we all chip in together and make a bunch of pizzas. Yummy.

@rebelann We order sometimes, but only from the good places, not the "fast food" pizza. I don't like that stuff. Homemade everything is best. :)

That sounds so wonderful @Lady_Justice most of the people I know order lots of pizza from a pizza place instead of making homemade

My favorite comfort food meal is chicken adobo. It is made of chicken marinated and cooked in soy sauce and vinegar with laurel leaves, pepper, and lots of garlic. I like it spicy so I add chili when I cook it. Yum!

@fcmondez No such thing as "too much garlic" for me. It's also supposed to be healthy, so bonus!

Mine is potatoes. My grandfather taught me to make them but I could never get them as good as he did. We ate at his house every Monday night for dinner. He was such a good cook. He would chop them and cook them in milk and add salt and butter.

That is what is good when there is something in you or what you made in your lifetime that other people would connect with you . They will always be reminded of you whenever they see if it is something made by the person or taste it in case of favorite foods .
