"Reason" option when staff take down discussions/posts

I think a great idea for myLot would be for there to be a "reason" option when staff take down discussions/posts. Instead of your discussion simply disappearing without you knowing, you get a notification it has been removed, with the title of the removed discussion mentioned, and a short reason. To make it convenient for staff, it could simply be a quote from the community guidelines, where they have a table from which they can select from. Then of course, there would be an "other" option where they can type in a custom reason. This is a good idea because in the long run, it can reduce the amount posts staff need to manually take down as more people are informed of what was wrong with their discussion/post. I personally didn't read the full community guidelines when joining and made quite a few posts that were taken down, without me knowing when or why. What do you think of this idea?

At one point in time, the option did exist. I do not have the option in the new system, at least not at this time. That is not to say that something may not be added in the future. In the mean time, I am always willing to discuss any discussion removed and the reasons for it if I am contacted.

I agree to this suggestion . At least when the myLotter opened his account and can't find a post he just posted , he will not be wondering why anymore , but take it as it is .

@Joel7050 I agree with you that it's a good suggestion to inform members of the reason for deletion of posts, responses or comments. However, it might not be practical as it may require a lot of manpower and time since there are many sign ups of new members everyday.

I'm thinking right now at least set up some notification that will inform you instead of it simply vanishing. Maybe a simple "Your discussion 'Name' has been removed" or something like that.

You guys never learn. why make a post like this when you can just search for the admin and tell them in their respective post? i mean jolietjake has done it for the last couple of years. The mylot staff is small and have no time to tell you why.

For such a well run website I thought their staff support was pretty large. Anyway, I joined a few days ago and don't know much.

You only have to ask Admin and they will tell you the reason. And everybody should read the rules to start with.

You are right, I don't know why people continue to try to change Mylot.

I haven't checked my previous discussions to see if any of them have been deleted, but I suppose they wouldn't simply delete discussions if they don't comply to the guidelines. It could be any reason and too many people are breaking rules anyway and it might be hard to keep up, so I would understand even if they don't give any reason.

Maybe even just a notification system that tells you "Your discussion 'Name' has been taken down" would be useful instead of it just vanishing, no?

Yes I think this is a good idea and it would stop people making the same mistakes.

I think everyone who joins this site needs to look for the rules and expectations. Everyone who has been on line on other sites knows plagiarism (copy and paste - not written by you is not allowed.) But there are many other reasons that posts get removed. Many newbies introduce themselves in their first post and when they do that, others send them links to the help button and the what you can do or can't do. A reason for having a post deleted would be good for the new member but a lot of work for the staff.. I'll be curious to see if Admin responds to this. I'd like to hear his and her's thoughts on this.

Well, the author should know by heart the reason why his discussion is removed. Of course we know that plagiarism is a no no and also spamming.,

I believe there is no need for that option. The site provides for the Community Guidelines which we need to read upon registration. Having been informed of the rules, we are expected to post discussions complying with the Rules. So, there is no excuse for us for not to act in accordance with the same. Likewise, the Terms & Conditions, which we have agreed and accepted, expressly provide that myLot has the right to delete discussions even without notification to the myLot member. Unless the Terms & Conditions (T&C) get amended specifying the need for notification, such T&C remains to be the law, binding between the management and the members of myLot. Thus, there is no necessity for a "reason" button.

I think it's a great idea. I had a discussion deleted a couple of days ago and I am curious. I sent a message to Alex asking for an explanation.

I think its a great idea so a writer can understand why their post is taken down. Most people want to know what is going on with their work. This might give writers an idea about making a design for this reason option and to make this user friendly
