TinyCent is not for me

I've seen a bit of chatter about TinyCent here on myLot and other sites, so I decided to check it out for myself. At first glance, it seems okay. The site design is basic (and rather reminiscent of Bubblews, as another myLotter pointed out), but it's relatively user-friendly and easy to navigate.
The registration process was pretty annoying, because the form kept telling me that the email address I provided wasn't valid. It took me three or four attempts to get the form to submit properly so I could get the verification link to activate my account.
And all seemed well and good, until I wandered over to the payment settings page. Most sites are content to have just a PayPal email address so they can send you payments. Not TinyCent. Oh, no. The mandatory fields on their payment settings form include the name of your bank and your account number. The only optional field on the form is for a PayPal email address.
Nope. Not touching it. I hope it works out well for those of you who are already over there, but that's well outside of my comfort zone.

I was planning to give it a shot until I realized that was what they're requiring.
Guess this goes to show why one should always read the terms and conditions before joining a site... I usually do, but for some reason didn't bother before signing up for this one. Would have saved me a bit of aggravation, that's for sure!

I would not join a site like that either, why on Earth would they want your Bank and acct# in exchange for tiny cents? It could be a phishing site and might ask for more information later in order to get payment, so everyone be careful. Here's a few info and see what you can make out of it so you can decide if you want to join in

@carebear29 I know that I'm not comfortable giving them my bank information.
Hope it works out okay for you.

I gave up after 4 attempts at registering. After what you say, I´m glad I didn´t get there. It´s not my kind of site.

@yukimori I did not read the TOS before either. I just had little patience when I could not register easily.

I don't blame you for being glad. I feel like an idiot for not reading the terms of service before I went through the trouble of signing up.
Oh, well... it's not like I put in any effort on the site, so I can't complain too much about the time I wasted signing up for it.

Why the site asked for account details is because paypal takes commission for payment made through them. You do not have to provide bank details. I have not. I have just redeemed there.

@bagarad Earlier I had not provided bank details but there is an issue with paypal the site is going through and in fact many Indians are sailing in the same boat at the moment. That is being sorted out. Providing bank details I later realised was safe as even our cheque leaves have those details which we issue from time to time.
After submitting my bank details I got paid. I have redeemed a second time for 25 dollars and am awaiting payment. The site is new and the stakes are pretty high - one cent per view. I doubt if they can survive for long with this. I will not be surprised if they lower it.

@allknowing Seems like getting in while it's good is going to be the best option.

I've done it before, but only for reputable companies I trusted and was actually working for as an independent contractor. Something like this... nope.
I'm not convinced that this one is associated with Bubblews, although it does seem to be extremely similar.

I've seen the chatter too but I promised myself to not even look into it. I just might be tempted like I often am, but I should know by now what happens "eventually". But woh - bank and account number? . Hmmm, this news has definite put a lid on it for me - so thanks for the heads up on this one!

I have also seen a lot of people talking about this website lately. What are you actually supposed to do on it?

It seems to be a site that's focused on blogging rather than discussions like myLot is.
The 1 cent per view they seem to be promising has already been proven unsustainable. I'm guessing there will be a handful of people who do really well over there to begin with, but the payment scheme won't last. The site will never be able to support that output in the long run.

That does sound sketchy. I'm sure some sites are legit, but I still don't trust sites that want bank account numbers. Thanks for the heads up!

There is no need of account number and bank name when paying through paypal. I think better to stay away from this site.
