... For real ! I am being influenced by people I interact with most here on myLot. It shows in the way my writing style sometimes change and even the words I use are theirs. Do you happen to notice that in your own writing? Some of their words get stuck and become my words. For example, Wendy uses "indeed" a lot. Now I do too. Dani is attached to "HAHA!", "haha!", "literally", "friggen" etc... Yeah except "literally" I stole others involuntarily. Then there are friends who have extensive vocabulary. Like Jabo, Vandana, pgn, DE among others. They use words that I look for ways to use those in some way. But alas! I always come up short. Have you been influenced by myLot members here too? Share your experience about how and at what height are you influenced. (Photo by Pixabay)

I'm not so much influenced by myLot members, but I have noticed when I work on a book while I'm also reading one, that the author's style becomes my style and I find I need to go back and do a lot of editing so the character sounds like his or her self and not like someone they're not.

I have picked up a few terms from various people mainly from the US. Apart from that I think I am pretty much me and can't say i'm influenced by anyone to be honest.

@Mike197602 LOL! Aren't we Americans a hoot? Not only do we usurp things from your language, but we change those words in our own way to give a whole new meaning to the language we hold in common! Give us enough time and you will find that your language has become our language, exactly the way the Indians are beginning to do, as well! (LMAO!)

@crazyhorseladycx I recognize the "hurting my eyes" comment, but I am positive I've never claimed your writing insulted anyone's intelligence, Crazy! If I've ever said something like that, I do hope I added the "silly" emoji, or the "raspberry" emoji to suggest I was teasing you!

@Daljinder so kind 'f ya to say, hon. @crazyhorseladycx Ahhh! I like the way your write (honest) I try to copy it because it makes reading more interesting. Your style is difficult to copy. lol Ya know now that there are some who want to write like you now. So ignore those who want your style to be changed.

Well, they must be influencing me a little. I am now using LOL a lot which I don't usually. I think it works the same way when you are talking to the same people a lot, you begin to talk the same way as them one way or another.

May be unintentionally you feel that the choice of word of other members makes her point and therefore will make your point also. This could possibly be because you got convinced with what that member was saying at some level.Just my view and not a theory.

@Daljinder Well as long as it is not copyrighted , the term you can use it "adopted" as opposed to "stealing" :)

LMFAO! I am not quite so easily influenced as some other people are, DJ! Although, it is funny when I see you using words that I use or pgn uses! I haven't noticed you using 'indeed' very much, but I have noticed you using 'HAHA!' as well as 'friggen' once in a while! I will say this is the first time I have seen you use pgn's 'alas', though! Honestly, that is what friends are for, hon! You do know that mimicry is the highest form of flattery anyone can show a friend, right? (That is quite true, you know!)

@DaddyEvil Of course you are not! lol You are the one influencing. Damn I had not heard the heard that phrase before. After reading that, I guess it's alright if I be a thief and there will be no royalty issues in my future. Since I am showing the highest form flattery to my friends, do they owe me some royalties? lol Ooooh *rubbing hands together* P. S. "Alas" is not pgn word. There are some words that I use on my own too. lol I don't even remember him using it though. I don't think.

@Daljinder Hmmm... royalties... Is that like calling you, Princess, or something? Okay, instead of calling you DJ, I will call you Princess, instead! LOL! If you haven't seen @pgntwo saying "alas" then it isn't because he doesn't say it... maybe he waits to say it when he is just talking to/with me? IDK.
