How Many Discussions Have You Started On MyLot?

I need FOUR more posts to reach 900, so I’m hoping that I can get those done today. I spend about an hour, or sometimes two hours per day writing on MyLot. I set a timer and usually do my writing in the evening or late at night. It’s the only site in which I participate, except occasionally Facebook. Since I retired last year, I have more time to write and I currently am working on two novels. I had one published already. I’m also working on a Book of Poetry and I am hoping to publish a book with some of my best articles from MyLot for my grandchildren. I learned that I can get these all published FREE on lulu.com. The only thing you have to pay for is if you order the finished book and that doesn’t cost much at all. I got 10 copies of my paperback book for about $60. I’m gifting them to my friends and family. Everyone who has ever wanted to get a book published should look into this fantastic opportunity. It was so nice to have my published books in my hand and to be able to give them as gifts to my family and friends. And it is also, so nice to be able to say that I am a published novelist.

I'm currently only on 75. The number is climbing faster than it used to, as I'm now publishing a bit over one per day. If I make things into books, I always see if I can publish them commercially as well - every little bit of passive income helps.

I just have more time than most people on here, because I am retired now. I think that if a person writes interesting posts, it would make sense to get them published in a book. I especially am using this site to write about things that I think my grandchildren would enjoy reading. That way I can publish my "Memoirs" for them. I've written several things about my childhood and my life, so they should find that interesting to read, even if others don't find it that interesting.

@IreneVincent Plus there's so much knowledge and experience that would be lost otherwise. Especially as the world has changed so much. And you never know what people will find interesting .

@egdcltd Yes, in my lifetime, I have seen lots of things and experienced many different situations that my grandchildren know nothing about. The world has changed so much, since I was a child. Kids today have NO IDEA what life was like 50 years ago. And it was CERTAINLY very different than the world today.

@IreneVincent I'm here almost a year too but don't post that many discussions compared to you. Although I'm retired I have other obligations which keep me from as much computer time as I'd like

@Marilynda1225 My children are all grown and married and even though I have some other interests and responsibilities it's nothing like it used to be when I was running my own business.

How long have you been a member on myLot? I've only been here since September of 2015, but I didn't write much at all for the first couple months because I didn't understand how this site worked. Once I figured that out, I started to roll along. As I said, though, I'm retired and have more time than most people to do hang out here.

Yes, I've got three more books I'm going to get published soon. I need some help from my friend who has agreed to help me. She is recuperating from surgery right now.

You should check out lulu.com. Another site was recommended to me that I haven't check out yet. createspace.com I know nothing about it yet, but I do plan to go there and see what they have to offer. I had to have some help getting my novel published on lulu.com but I now have the finished product in my hand and it feels good to be able to say that I am a published novelist. I have asked the person who helped me before to help me again to get my poetry published. She just had some surgery but she said she would help me in a few weeks.

I am at 293 but I delete outdated and no longer timely posts. On your paperback book, how did you do the cover art etc?

A friend helped me choose the cover art. She was the one that told me about how to do it and she helped me get it all done. On lulu.com, you can choose from what they have available. You can go to lulu.com and type in my name: Alice Henry and you will see my book. The Title is "A Total Commitment"

@IreneVincent I gave up doing a real book decades ago (non-fiction). Being online just isn't the same to me as being in a print publication though there's more freedom and a site like this allows anything I want almost.

@JohnRoberts I had given up too. I wrote the novel way back in 1983 and didn't even know that I had kept it, until I found the manuscript while cleaning out my office. Then, I just happened to mention it to my friend and she told me about getting it published. At first I didn't believe her, but she was right and now I have my novel in my hand. They say if you write just 30 minutes a day, you can produce a novel in six months or less. The nice part is that we now have Microsoft Word or something similar. So, you can write two or three pages one day and save it and then go back and read it again, to improve it and edit it and then write some more. All you need is a plot and some personal experiences and before you know it you have a story.

I stopped and deleted all of my discussions in April. I think there were less than 60 of them.

There are a few of my discussions that I probably should delete. But, I'm just leaving them there until I decide what I want to publish in a book.

Steer clear of Lulu. Go to createspace instead. Trust me on this.
