Waiting for the Money

My husband filed for early retirement last July 1, so he no longer receives the usual bi-monthly salary (1-15/16-30).
Now we have to be thrifty enough till he receives the initial lumpsum of the monetary benefit of his 30 years in work.
Good thing we saved a little, so we get our weekly expenses from it, though we have to be frugal till we have his monetary claim.
We are still looking forward to have a small business for additional income.
What about you, do also have such plans/financial plans?

@AkoPinay same here, so I also retired very early from 8-5 p.m. office work. I hate traffic and pollution!

You can plan it well because both of you have jobs; then you can have pensions too, and enjoy it together and go places or vacations.

At least he doesn't have to go through the daily commute. It's so bad nowadays. Hopefully he gets to enjoy the retirement benefits soon.
As for me, I have plans but I'm not in that sustainable level yet. Aside from my day job, I'm paying my insurance premiums and working on writing on the side. myLot and some other earning sites also help, too.
I had a chance to join a very short perfume-making seminar some days ago and got interested in that. Maybe, if I have the extra money, I can venture in that business.

@acelawrites I really need the income, especially that my husband and I are supporting two little kids. We still have a long way to go with regards to supporting their needs especially in education. That's why if there's an opportunity, we try to grab them, and as long as we can.

You are actively working; that's nice because you are still physically capable; and the perfume business is a good one too. I like such ventures too.

I do have similar financial plans. One is to get another source of income aside from my work. I'm looking at getting a second job to get additional funds.

@acelawrites better that you have something that you do not need than to need something that you do not have.

So nice to know about your plans. Yes, one should always have a back-up plan so everything would still be alright when the need arises.

It is so nice to know you also have good retirement plans. I pity people who become helpless when they reach retirement age. They did not plan well for it.

30 years of service as a banker, for sure your husband get millions as his retirement benefits. My manager got more than 7 million plus as his retirement benefits when he retired after 30 years of service.

Because he is a manager; it is true, my sister also had the same amount when she retired from the bank. But my husband was only a supervisor. At least, we could pay off all our house loans and have some spare for the future.

@acelawrites Wow, a supervisor gets millions also. "Balato na man Dyan!" - means share your blessings to me. Lol.

No, he do not like it. He does not even have an FB account, though he always read the news on the net. He is not "as dramatic" as me! ha ha ha!

So nice to know that you and your husband are also retired. It is so nice to savor the fruits of your labor. For, us,it would be nice one too; just enough for us because we will also receive monthly pensions when my husband turns 60.

It is really nice to enjoy retirement benefits. At least you have less worries of getting up early or going out in a haste, then just wait for the due date for the pension funds.

Yes, I do. I've been building my own retirement plan though I have SSS contributions since I started working. I can't just rely on that. That is the reason why I work from Monday to Sunday (regular & remote jobs) so that I won't have financial problems by the time I get tired working.

It is also good to have SSS pension. I have it too, though I will get my lumpsum contribution when I reach 60 because I did not reach the 120 premium payments and I don't want to continue it anymore.
