Can't Handle the Fear!

I've always loved scary movies, books, games, etc. There's something about that thrill of being terrified that I can't get enough of. However, when I'm playing a scary game or watching a scary video in virtual reality, I can't handle it. It's absolutely horrifying. When I'm in virtual reality, it's hard for my brain to accept that what I'm seeing isn't real. A monster can be literally right in front of me and I panic. I'm currently playing a game called "Dead Secret". It's a mystery/thriller game about this journalist who is investigating a crime scene. I have to search for clues and solve puzzles to try to piece together who is the murderer. I didn't realize it was a scary game until I walked past a mirror and saw a guy in a mask right behind me. Now as I've continued playing, The guy in the mask has been pursuing me and my panic is real. I love the "finding clues" and "solving puzzles" part of the game, but the fear is not cool. I have to force myself to play because I really want to finish it. The struggle is real, guys. lol

This is true, I am not playing video games but I watch horror/thriller movies all the time. It's like I became addicted to it and after watching couple of it, my mind will now start remembering the characters which also scares me when I'm alone haha

I do not play video games but I get this way with books and movies. I can read true crime books and horror books and be fine but watching the movies makes things to realistic and scares me and gives me nightmares.

Maybe just too realistic while a scary movie is less than life size on a screen and you know it's fake.

Yeah, when I'm in virtual reality, it's soooo real. I can be in a room and actually turn my head and look around at everything as though I were actually standing in it. It makes my brain feel like it's real so I panic more. lol
