My Back Biting Friend

I had this really close friend. We exercise together, shop together, sleep together, and party together. When she broke her heart, I was there to comfort her. I basically gave it all my effort for that friendship. Then recently I've found out that she's been backbiting me to her other friends out of insecurity. Apparently she didn't like that I put on make up during her birthday party. The funny thing is she also told me the same script but to a different gal. I felt so bad. I mean it was a party so I thought putting make up was appropriate. But apparently she wants her guests to be shabby so she could shine.

Yes I feel betrayed. If it were me celebrating my birthday if like her to look pretty and doll up. And if I have issues towards her I always just say it to her face.

@Yadah04 A true friend will stay beside you no matter what. A true friend never betrays friend.

Guess it's time to unfriend her. Friends like that are no friend at all.

@toniganzon Well yes but she might confront me as to why and I'll be forced to tell her and I'll be dragging someone's name with me which I think is unfair to the informant.

Hi Toni, my other friends have already unfriended her and are urging me but I work as an agency nurse and I might end up working in her ward. I don't want it to be awkward.

I have a friend since I was in grade 2 and now I'm a professional. I do believe some friendships last with the right people. I didn't intend to steL her thunder. She knows I always wear make up. I don't know why she suss about it.

I wouldn't say I was shining. I looked presentable. She was of course the shiniest. I even took conscious effort to dress down so she won't feel outshined.

@Ritu96 I've always seen her as a beautiful person inside out. I didn't understand why she's so insecure.

I wonder, is this the same woman in one of your picture that has posted out here in some of your post? I feel sad this happened to you, some how proves no friend is permanent. I guess her insecurity just ran its course when your getting the attention. I hope if she's a real friend apologize for what she did. My mom had dealt with a real insecure and destructive friend since her teaching days, recently, she finally unfriended her..

Yes she's the one I posted. My supposed to be wonderful fitness buddy. Who I've helped to lose her weight. Apparently she doesn't want what's best for me like I want the best for her

Well, maybe it was just her sense of etiquette. I NEVER put make-up on at parties.

Hello Dear! There is nothing bad putting on make. Is just to enhance your beauty. Your Friend should be happy seeing you dress fine. She Is Jealous.

Yes exactly because if she was putting on make up I'll even offer to help her out. I thought that friendship should be that way. Improving each other not bringing each other down.

Oh my, reading it just pains me. I mean, having a backbiting friends is just so bad, if not the worst thing ever. Have you talked to her about it? Like maybe confront her calmly? It is such a sad thig that the friendship would go to waste. But then again, it is a good thing you have known about her attitude already.

I want to talk and confront her but I don't want to bring up the informant's name as I do not want to destroy their friendship. I'm just distancing from her but I really want her to know why.

Well,it seems that your friend does feel insecure. If you do care your friendship, just forgive and forget(It must be uncomfortable.)After all,it is not a big deal.Besides,it was she that was backbiting you.If you do feel really bad, dont talk about her behind her back, tell her your feelings in a humorous way.

She's doing the same things to her other friends. It appears that she has insecurity problems. I want to confront her but I don't want to bring out the informant's name.

It really hurts when you are so close to a friend and then you find out that they are putting you down behind your back, it sounds as though she is jealous of you. You don't need friends like that. As much as it hurts you are better off without her. You did nothing wrong.

So she wanted things to be one sided and favors her? Stories like this reminded me of the backstabbing that happens a lot in the company I use to work for. My female coemployees are frenemies with each other.

that's kinda sad....i guess its our expectation out of friends that breaks our heart when something like this happens.
