Lunches

My work has a cafe in it. The cafe has pretty much anything you could ever want to eat in it, however, it can get very pricey at times. I want to start making stuff to carry into lunch to save money. What are some of your best lunch ideas?

Salads are always good. Sometimes I take leftovers of what I had the evening before. You can also plan a day on a weekend and make up your lunches for the week ahead.

When I was at the hospital today waiting for my mom to get discharged, four of us family members went down to the hospital cafeteria to grab some lunch. It's the first time I've been to a hospital cafeteria in many years, and I was expecting the food to not be of the greatest quality. But boy was I surprised! They had an amazing spread of just about everything you could want! And their prices were unbelievable! We fed four of us, including drinks, for $17! And our plates were piled high with food!

That is a great deal! Sadly, I don't work at a hospital. The cafe at my work ends up being anywhere from 5-10 dollars a person.

@ageekmommy I didn't realize it, but my aunt, who was having lunch with us, qualified for a senior citizen discount. Instead of the cashier just giving the discount to my aunt, she gave it to all of us! Otherwise, the cost of our cafeteria lunch would have been higher.

Something you like? I like fruit for snacking which is what I did at work. I don't know meals didn't seem like meals to me there. Veggies?

I usually take leftovers. Lately I have been taking big salads with lots of stuff in them including chicken, or tuna, or chickpeas or other beans for protein.

Lunch can get expensive. A chicken salad is great or perhaps a sandwich. Eating at cafe every now and then is alright. (Tanikka Paulk)

I'd go for rice and meat/fish and veggie dishes.

I would prefer a sandwich for lunch. Nothing very heavy as it would just lull me to having a nap. Try using wheat bread instead of s regular bread to be healthier.
