I just went out shopping for groceries and near the gate are these three totally adorable kittens! They are free for adoption apparently. But I'm so unsure if I should take one.
I've only ever had dogs as pets. I've heard cats are really clean...but its still a responsibility.
Maybe I should wait...get one when I'm more sure. Right guys? What do you think?

I am a cat lover. I have had cats all of my life. Those kittens are adorable! I would not have been able to resist bringing all of them home. They are a lot of responsibility so you have to be sure that you want to make a commitment before you decide to bring one home. When I get a pet it is their forever home. I don't know how people can have pets and then just give them away after awhile. Cats are very independent and much less work then dogs but they are great company too. I think you would enjoy having a kitty around but just don't bring it home on an impulse. Think about it and if you decide you want a kitty then go out and get one! You won't regret it! :)

@ms1864 kinda? they dislike sticky tape immensely. don't hurt 'em none, but teaches 'em the countertops, dinin' tables'n the like 're off limits. some folks keep a spray bottle with water handy fer such, but that aint very effective when yer sleepin' 'r off'n 'nother room.

Yes, it is a responsibility too. But when you had decided, just adopt one as your pet.

I would say don't get one unless you are ready. Cats are sweet pets, but yes you have to want to be their mommies, even though they seem independent. You have to feed them, give them affection when they want, and get their shots and all. And keep them from getting run over.
If you want to do those things then by all means, get a kitty. Or two so they have each other to play with.

Having a cat as pet is far less work than having a dog. You don't have to walk a cat in the rain.

I know this is from August, so did you get one of the kittens. Cat really are easier to take care of than dogs. You have to cat stay inside and they are very smart in learning their litter box and you do not have to walk them 3 times a day.

They are more independent. You can leave cats alone for a few days, with enough water, food, and a litter box...and they will get along just fine. With dogs, you can't. But for the record...I prefer dogs too.

I have cats and kittens at home. Cats are clean . It is fun watching the kittens play with their mother. I really enjoy it. They like to have fish and milk very much.
