Riddle of the Evening

A man is found hanged. He is hanging from the ceiling by a rope. There is nothing in the room like a chair or table he could have stood on but he is hanging about 6 feet in the air! Apart from him, the room is empty and he had NO help from anyone in committing his suicide. What happened?

hmmm, this does seem to be a good one, I know I am way off base but, maybe a pully system, or the know was there he climbed up to it and the slack feel to the ground
