Taking payments from relatives

Hello Friends
Just recently I was in this mess. I am programmer by myself. One of relative was in need of website so he told me about it, and he also tells me that I can charge anything what I am charging to others.
That sounds okay, so I did it. Well, I did all purchasing domain name and hosting by my self with my payment. But after I finished my work, he was asking for time after website got online. 
May be he was in some trouble or what? But in the end he paid me whole money. 
But I have to wait for a month. But in that whole month my mind was playing with me that either I should ask him money or not, as of course he is my relative.
In other case we always used to take money in advance. (some part of). But here there was other case.
Have you in such situation anytime?! I mean where because of relationship you can't ask for money even you are need.

@topffer Yes, that's why. And I did it indirectly too. I was feeling too hesitating for the same thing. I knew that I will get paid by him later on, but as I paid for him already I was in bit hurry. But never mind he did pay me after one month delay. So its okay.

Yeah, I remember when I used to be a math tutor and I was a bit sceptical when a very good friend asked me to tutor her son. Since they're like family to us, I didn't really feel right to charge her - on the other hand, I didn't feel right to give my time and service for free either. But all's well that ends well - she was very understanding about my feelings.

I'm not close with relatives. I don't render legal services for free. Even my siblings and parents have to pay every legal document they ask me to do and I demand payment for it.

A lot of times it had happened to me..i had no courage to ask. Still happy to be alive without borrowing anything from relatives:)
