Getting up on top of a roof of a single story house can still be difficult.

I have been on top of the roof of our house many times over the years, usually to repair a flap from a broken asphalt shingle, or to cut back some over grown branches or to sweep the roof. It has come to my attention that our roof needs to be replaced. It is over 20 years old now and besides that there are some leaks that have caused interior ceiling drywall damage. You can't really fix the interior ceiling tiles until you fix the roof right? So I will have to save for several years and deal with patching the holes as I always have done until I save about 5 thousand dollars or more. Based on that fact, I might be 65 by the time I have enough and by then roofing costs might have already doubled. Oh well, at least I don't live in Baton Rouge.

I know how expensive it is to have things done in your place, i wish you get to save a lot before inflation catches up.

I have to be optimistic and save, save, save. I will never take it and gamble it on chance.

@lookatdesktop actually we are fighting 2 battles, inflation and our age, as we age we reach a point of diminishing return or lessened ability to earn plus the fact that we might not be able to go up there when the time comes to look at actual conditions.

I had my roof replaced several years ago, when a tornado caused a tree to fall on it. Fortunately for me, insurance covered the total cost.

I have to save for my insurance deductible of 2 thousand. I so far have 6 dollars on it. Not looking like it will be saved up very soon. lol And in the meantime I am not hoping for any tornadoes. They do a lot more around here than tear off some roofing shingles. lol

Around 7 years ago, we finally had our roof replaced. We had Lowes put a new one on. It was amazing how they got it on in just a few hours.
