So I'm thinking of maybe trying to write a book. I've always enjoyed writing and I have bunches of ideas floating around, but I've never really given anything that long a try. Could be a fun challenge, if I can fit it in around school and work

Good luck! Look at it this way, even if all you do is write and don't sell much, at least you've accomplished what you want to.

@Stitch95 Very true. As long as it makes you happy.

Thank you! I do write a bit just for myself anyway, so if nothing else it's just something more to add to me collection :')

I was thinking that if I do manage to write something I might just self-publish on amazon, try to get word out via my friends. I don't know yet though, I'll consider that part if/when I get there :)

That's exciting, and I hope you do! It would be time consuming. I hope you are writing down your ideas as soon as you have them. Sometimes the mind gets too cluttered with other things. I could never write a book. Just don't have the good ideas!

I haven't started doing that yet, but I'm going to get a little notebook and write down what I come up with. Maybe try and organise them a little so I can cherry-pick things when it comes to actually writing :)

Start small and start slow. It takes a month to a year for a book to be ready. Best of luck!

Yeah, I don't expect it to be done quickly. I thought maybe I'd just aim for something short, like a slim paperback rather than a novel, so then anything over that is just a bonus :) Thank you!

That's great. It would be so productive and you could further improve your skills. I would certainly read your book.

It can't hurt to try. You never know what could happen.

If you feel you can do it, do it. Look, you will never know if you don't try. I tell myself that all the time. And I have yet to write a book. I know writing a novel would be a hard task for me. But I can compile a bunch of short stories together to form a book. Maybe that will work. I have not yet built up the courage to write anything and publish it.

if you do self publish spend a little money and try to get a half decent editor. There is so much crap out there and most of the rubbish hasn't being professionally edited and that can make all the difference. I read a first draft of quite a famous authors fist ever book and it was a bit shite, got it edited by a pro and now he's a very lucrative publishing deal as is a quite well known author.
