Coconut Oil for Hair Loss: Does it Work?

My boyfriend just run out of castor oil which we use to prevent hair fall and promote hair growth.
I was trying to conbince him to use virgin coconut oil which I still have a bottle of while we are not able to buy castor oil yet.
I am not really sure how effective coconut oil is, but I have heard that it works.
Can anyone share their experience if they have tried this?

Never tried it, but everyone says coconut oil is great for all sorts of uses.
Castor oil? Does it still have that smell?
Castor oil reminds me of my grandmother. Every summer she would give us a dose of castor oil, followed by a glass of orange juice to get rid of the nasty taste.
It was supposed to be good for our health. Yuck
