I tried something new on MyLot for the last couple of days and I like it!

Usually, with my first morning cup of coffee, I respond to comments on my posts, visit a few commenters, write a new post, and then continue responding to comments on my posts, occasionally visiting others who have left comments on my posts. The last couple of mornings I've done something totally different: I've ignored comments on my posts (in the short-term), visited others' posts, and followed threads and visited ONLY others' posts, not being concerned about comments on my posts or getting something posted. The result is that I'm way behind in responding to comments on my posts, but I've had a chance to visit more posts by others, including @Wordazza, @ElizabethWallace, @JudyE, etc. I'll get to comments on my own posts eventually. Do you have a MyLot pattern? Have you ever changed it, just to see what happens?

I recently added a step to my pattern. I go to notifications first, then comments on my most recent post. The new step is to check out new posts by people I follow. I visit at least five, often more.

Interesting. I don't even know who I follow. I mean I know I followed them. But it doesnt affect my search behavior.

@norcal I don't do it first, since I want to jump into conversations, but I do it anyway.

@JudyEv Patterns? I start thinking factals. In the practical world, I'm helpless. Just give me meditative repetition and I'm OK.

I catch up people I follow when I am on my pc, when I am mobile I work on notifications. Once I am done with new readings I catch up some notifications but rarely all. Oh and I post early on so as not to forget

I try to get one post done before I head off to work. Unless I'm teaching an 8 AM class.

Oh, she's one of my best friends at the preschool right now. She's three. The kids like to "steal" my hat and wear it for awhile.

I have changed and try to visit the most recent comments and posts first rather than starting at the 'old' ones. Hopefully in this way I can connect with a few people in 'real' time.

Makes sense. Sometimes I find older ones "randomly," meaning that I never got to them. I'll still respond to them.

@TheHorse Me too. I try not to miss any but if you're away for a while it's pretty inevitable.

I always take care of my notifications first. I figure if someone takes the time to leave me a comment, it deserves my attention.

That's been my strategy for my first several months here. For the past couple of days, I've been reading others' posts first. I'm catching up on comments on my posts now, as I cook dinner and do some woodworking and progress notes. Dang, almost sounds like I'm "multitasking," doesn't it?

I do have a pattern. I have changed it over the years and it works well for me. Glad you found one that makes you happy.

I always go through my notifications first, I reply to all the reponses that I find on my posts, then I check the other notifications. I have to say that I am not very happy when I leave a comment and I do not get a reply for days, so I try to reply as soon as I can.

@TheHorse I think that the best I can do is to clear all the notifications first, because if I start to read new posts, more notifications will add to the previous ones.

I kind of feel the same way. On this post, I'm behind because of my "new strategy."

Like a pigeon pecking for grain, I dart this way and that, answering, reading and responding, wherever the breeze blows me... The trail of responses on a longish discussion thread becomes difficult to navigate from Notifications, I find.

I'm in the habit of going to Notifications first, and one by one checking responses and going to each responder's page to see if there's a post they've made that I can respond to. Once that's done, I delete the appropriate notification and move on to the next one.

My pattern is the same as yours so I might give it a try and visit first and work later. I've considered it before but If you like it, I will probably like it too...I need to spread my wings...

Yes, i have and it's always the same . First i will go to my most recent posts and comment back on those who commented while i was gone . Then go to my other notifications until i am done with them . Then go back to the posts of those who commented on my posts . I am happy that way , because at least i get to return my friends' visit too .

I need to get back into a pattern since I've been away. Right now I'm focusing on commenting on other's posts more than my own.

The first thing I do is to clear my notifications and act on them if needed then respond to discussions under the Most Recent Section.

I take care of all the notification at first then comments on the commenters on my posts before I replied to the comments on my discussions. Then, I interact to the other posts before I write my own discussion. That is if I feel writing.
