What month or months have the most birthdays in your family? For us it seems to be a tie between March, July and August.
My sister and cousin were born on the same day a year apart, and celebrated their birthday yesterday. My sister stopped by but I never know what to get her. We were talking and I ended up giving her a tea I had and a hair detangler / leave in conditioner as she was complaining of hair breakage.
I use all organic / home made stuff so am hoping it will help her.
My best friend / sister has a birthday coming up next month. I ordered her the perfume I use because she said she liked the smell and I also bought her a bath whipped soap I have used in the past. Both are smells I think she'll enjoy.
I am really horrible with picking out presents. Sometimes I just don't bother but well we don't tend to buy many presents in this family anyway. Nobody has hurt feelings, and it's a nice surprise when we do get things.
What do you do when you aren't sure what to buy?

Not good months for birthdays as one month is for vacationing (June) and the other for preparation for Holidays (October).

@ScribbledAdNauseum I celebrate Individually, I do not want to share parties with someone

@CaptAlbertWhisker We tend to celebrate in one big group. When we were real small, we'd have our own individual day, but otherwise we celebrate several birthdays at once.

Wow. Do you celebrate individually or just have one big party for all?

In my family, it's July, as my elder brother and younger sister's birthday is on the same day in July. Now, it's May, as my husband, my baby and myself have birthday in May.
It's quite difficult to buy a present for someone. If I am unsure what the person likes, perhaps a book will be my choice, or something I know the person will be using.

Even books aren't always the best choice anymore. A lot of people have gone to the e-reader format. My niece and nephew bought me a gift card for a bookstore here in the US and I used it, but havent' read any of the books I picked out. I have gone to the e-reader for the most part. When it'sie a child, it can be a little bit easier but my niece and nephew (who are the hardest to shop for) are now teenagers or nearly pre teens!

It's good that you remembered what they say they liked . When i buy a gift , i make sure that it's something that the recipient will surely like and use .

My real sister (whose birthday was yesterday) I've known since I was born, so 29 years. My best friend, who I have known for 15 years? I could not talk to her for months and months and still know what to get her for her birthday. Crazy how that tends to work out.
Yes, definitely a good idea to get something that the person will like. That's not the easiest thing to accomplish though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That can only be done if you are always in contact with the recipient .

Asking is good, but not all family members you can ask. I don't like to ask the younger children, for instance. I do ask my niece and nephew, as they are 10 and 16 respectfully.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well, for the young children I think any kind of toy is good.

A lot of my friends an family are August birthdays like mine, when I'm stuck I usually get a gift card to somewhere they like.

Gift cards are okay ideas but I personally don't like to go that route. I want it to be something they will use and will like, or something they've never used before but will put them onto doing so.
Like the soap I got my friend, I don't thin she's used a whipped type soap before but she may after I give her the gifts.

Our birthdays are all spread out throughout the year. If you don't know what to buy maybe you can buy a gift card so they can use it to buy what they like.

I try so hard not to give gift cards. I know everyone is doing it now, but I prefer to give an actual gift whenever I can.
