Best Plotted Plans Failed

Whitechapel Overground Plat

Earlier in the week I spent a morning ambling around Town, following a list of 'quirky' things I wanted to see. I started at Whitechapel Tube Station. I think this is the only place where Underground trains pass over the top of the local railway service, known as the Overground within London. There was, once, a clear view of the Tube trains from the lower Overground platforms, but with construction work for the forthcoming Crossrail project, now there is only a small space, towards the upper right of the picture, to spot the trains of the District or Hammersmith and City lines. So much for that carefully plotted plan. Still, it is a little bit on the quirky side!

That looks like a shiny new tube station.

There is the shiny new bit they are building for Crossrail and the old, old station. The whole thing is being polished and should look very nice... one day

The road to the east! I live in the west and don't get out that way a lot

I have the same plan to walk around my town and look at some of the neat things. Maybe I can write a blog about it when I am done. I live in a pretty old town. Most people are so used to living here that they think its a dump but if you really look around there is a lot of really neat history here!

Yes, people get so used to things that they fail to see them for what they are. Somethings do need a bit of research to dig up the facts, though

They probably planned something that was the cheapest way to go.

There is a shortage of room, but they've managed to squeeze another line

I'd be interested in seeing that view myself. Oh well, you kinda found quirky.

The picture throws an even weirder perspective on things... I had to look twice to be sure!

I wish that I remembered London. I was just a baby when we lived in England. I hope to visit again one day.

I've heard of an underground plenty of times but never of an overground. My new information for the day. :)

I think it is more of an admin thing and distingushes it from other railways and the Underground. And, I guess it describes what it does... mostly!

When I first got to the lower platform, I thought I was wrong about the whole thing until I spotted the little gap.
