Fall is my favorite season

Fall is my favorite season, for so many different reasons. I know some people find it depressing because everything is dying around us, but I love the colors of the leaves, I love the fall festivals, the pumpkin everything, apples, Halloween, and basically everything that comes along with it.
I love that the weather gets a little colder after a hot summer, although anymore our falls don't seem to last more than a couple of weeks. Usually it just goes from summer to winter here. Regardless, I love this time of year. I have always loved rain too. I love walking in the rain. I feel like the world becomes a little calmer.
I feel like the rain kind of washes away some of the old and brings in the new, I know it doesn't, but it just makes everything different. As a person with anxiety rain relaxes me, and that's not something I get very often. I remember as a kid I used to sit by the window with a book and just listen as the rain hit the roof. It's more difficult to hear rain in our apartment since we live on the bottom floor. Occasionally I'll open the patio door so I can hear it, or I'll sit out on the patio. A fall rain is one of the best feelings for me. I can see the leaves and the rain and everything just seems better. It reminds me of my childhood and the way we used to have bonfires in the fall. We'd rake leaves and jump in them. I am often sad my son has never gotten to experience the real feel of fall, because we do live in an apartment. There are still other fall experiences I share with him though.
I love dressing my son up and taking him trick or treating. We get a pumpkin, and sometimes we carve it. My son's birthday is in November, so he has a fall birthday, and we do special things with him on his birthday, usually a week after his birthday is Thanksgiving. We stay busy from September on, but October is when things usually get hectic.
I love Halloween parties, and finding the perfect costume for my son, and sometimes my boyfriend. I rarely dress up, because there's never much in my size, and I'm not super creative.
I look forward to our arts festival in town come September, and the little festival the historical society has here in October. They have an old home that used to be an insane asylum, and they do tours and things. I love drinking hot and cold cider, and eating caramel apples and pumpkin pie. I think I love just about everything about fall.
What's your favorite thing about fall?

Unfortunately being in a tropical country I haven't experienced the fall season since we just have two seasons, the sunny and the rainy season. From your description though, it sounds pretty great and from what I hear the colors of the leaves during fall are like artwork so the sceneries at that time would have leveled up for sure. I wish I could travel to another country just so I could experience fall because it is very relaxing based on your description. :)

I'm sure not everyone that experiences fall likes it. It probably varies from person to person. Some people in the US don't even really experience it depending where they're from. I think it's relaxing, and very pretty. A lot of people love winter too, but I personally am not a fan. I experience all 4 seasons here. Fall is my favorite because it does seem to have a calmness about it that the other seasons don't, but that's just how I see it. Others may view it differently than me. Maybe one day you will get to experience it.

@enlightenedpsych2 my son wants to go as Mario and he wants his dad to be luigi, it's going to depend on if we can find them both costumes for reasonable prices. Last year my son was a cop and my boyfriend was a felon. We usually like different costumes, non superhero costumes for him, but now that he's getting older it's getting more difficult to get him to agree on original. He has been a pumpkin, a sock monkey, bugs bunny, and a dinosaur as well. Now he's adamant his dad has to dress up with him.

@enlightenedpsych2 Honestly I suck at making my own, and I looked into how much it would cost to make certain costumes, and it would be cheaper to buy them. I am not creative, and I have fine motor issues so sewing is difficult for me.

your description of fall and rains is almost perfect. My favorite thing about fall is the festive feel that runs around. There are many occasions coming up towards the end if every year. Out here, june, july and august are rainy and like you said...things mellow down. I like the rains too...but nothing much happens at that time.

Thank you, I like that festive feel too. I really do love the rain, it rained here for a good portion of the day yesterday, I just sat and listened to it. I can feel fall approaching here, it's starting to finally cool down, and some of the trees are slowly starting to change color, and we just had our arts festival, so I can really feel fall.
