After graduating in college, once we get out first job we are so very excited. What it feels like working, meeting new people and we stay on it for a period of time.
Now most of us just dont notice the time and they will just say, what just happen? I am already this old. And it seems we forgot to do things that we must or that are important to us because of work, so we tend to forget to live. But I know it doesnt matter what you choose as long you like it :) But want to know from you guys what would you choose over the other...

I have chosen life over career.... I have 2 degrees in my hands and I am an artist. I love my work. I can do it all day, everyday. We (artists) don't earn regularly...or much. ...compared to people who have a steady job and income. But I was able to chose this life because of support from my family. Most people in India do not have this kind of freedom of choice.... they have family and financial pressures because of which they have to chose to focus on career...before they are again pressured to marry.

true. a supportive family helps against societal/cultural pressure. are your 2 degrees related to art, too?

@hereandthere yes, one is for learning it, the other is for 'how to make a business ' out of it.

@ms1864 most of us always have a choice and we appreciate it more if the people close to us supports us. Our confidence just simply boost and it will always be the right decision if you have that kind of support :)

I think you dont have to choose. You just need to be balance life and career. To be honest, I would not be able to have the lifestyle that I have without a career so they are very much related to each other.

it is not clear why should we forget to do things that we must? It should never take place. Link your life to the work and the work to your life. Club them and enjoy the sweet dish. Career is a must to enjoy what you want the most in your life. Life ..without any goal or target does not carry any meaning. Now, make the Career as your goal. So both will be satisfied with perfect balance. There should be action which is a continuous one

Very well said :) i really can relate on what you said. I just put Life in everything I do, thats why I get attached. And the really key is to know what you want to do and balancing everything, because if you dont, I think you will easily got burn out :)

Life or career? I think that it is related to each other. Everyone needs to work to live on unless he has a rich family. To me, career is very important as it is the basic requirement for us to make earnings to live on. Without a career, good or less good, life is really too harsh. I work to live on and will still have to work till I reach the age of get my retirement pension, which I have been long for. Sometimes I complain the hardship offered to us by our boss, yet I keep on working hard to live on and to support my family. Life is not easy for the majority of us, but I am always trying to work nice and happily. Thank you for the nice discussion. Take care.

i agree. we live in a world where we need money even for basic things, so most of us need a source of income and most of us try to give our best and work honestly..

@williamjisir66 yes indeed, money is really what make our day to day activities go on. Its a hard truth that we sometimes have no choice at. But maybe we can do it both, working on our career while enjoying life :)

Of course you're right, we have so much to know in our life, and as what the saying goes, life is short so spent it wisely. Wisely that you wont regret anything...

I choose life. I want be with my kids rather then out all the time while they are growing up. I can choose career later when they are grown.

Nice thought, Family Centered, it's one of our precious memory, watching your son grow, nothing can be compared to that :)

If given a chance, I would choose both; however, it still not yet easy to balance the two that is why I'm choosing my career. :) Once I get a little bit matured, maybe I'll have the opportunity to experience the real meaning of living a life.
