Summer's End

It's only the end of August, but it's already over. I'm hearing the sound of acorns raining down upon my tin roof. The days are noticeably shorter, and somehow the light has changed. Nights have cooled and the tomato plants have slowed in their production, the lower leaves turning brown. The fair is over, the Ferris wheel's been taken down and carted away, and school has started. Summer is over, where did it go?

My country is about to have 6 months of monsoon. That news makes me miss summer already.

@norcal I am a bit fearing for floods but I moved from a city to a mountainous area so I hope I will be fine.

@CaptAlbertWhisker I hope you will too. I know that too much water can be just as much of a problem as too little water.

They say the grass is always greener in the next pasture. It sounds like where you live is a lot greener than where I live. We are usually hurting for water.

I know. It's flown by, so fast that I really had no chance to enjoy it.

@teamfreak16 Colorado is beautiful, but I think I prefer a warmer climate.

@122037 That's funny. 25 C is 77 F. That's not what I would consider hot. It is still warmer than that here, and I've been saying how the weather has cooled off!

I did. It's been pretty mild here this summer. Only one week of really brutal 100+ degree heat (37.7C) We often get a month of really hot weather like that.

Summer went by too fast that's for sure. School starts here next week and this is the last week for any fairs or amusement parks to be opened by us. I'm ready for the cooler weather and rainy days though.

Once it rains, we will have tiny little oak trees sprouting up.

Do the acorns scare you, dropping on the roof? Sometimes the black cockatoos feed in the trees above our workshop and drop gumnuts on the roof. It scares heck out of us if we're in the shed.

It makes you jump a little when they are only here and there. Once a lot of them start coming down, you get used to it.
