Your pets, growing up as a kid

Hey everyone. I am wondering how many (approximately) pets you all have had, growing up as a child, in your family. Also, if you feel like it, share your pet names, and/or what kinds of pets you had as a kid. As an example/personally, I had 5 cats growing up (not all at once, of course), a lot of them passed away at early ages, many of them only living to 3 years of age or younger. Our eldest cat lived to be 16, and at my parents' place, we have a cat that is currently 6 years old. We also for short periods of time, have had other pets, such as: snakes, a turtle, fish, and a hedgehog. I believe that is all. If I count all the cats, the 2 fish we had, and the hedgehog.. I guess that adds up to 8 pets.. I don't really count the snakes and the turtle, hardly, since we only really had them for about a week or so each. Edit: Image not from Pixabay, it is my own cat! Oops, haha!

Couldn't count anymore. I have had too many pet dogs in the past and there were birds, rabbits, and hamsters too! OH and i have had turtles too. But currently I have two adorable kittens.

@mawdest I love animals so even as a kid i often enjoyed being surrounded by them. I even played with snakes as a kid and snakes don't scare me until now. Well, it depends on what kind of snake that it.

@toniganzon That's great! I love snakes! Myself, and my brother, we caught snakes as kids a few times when we were younger. Either myself, or my brother, got bit kind of bad by one, and I think that was what stopped us doing it. We didn't catch any poisonous ones, thank Goodness! But yes! In your picture here, it looks like a boa or something, am I right? I have held one of those too, a long long time ago :P

Sounds like you were sort of like me, had a bit of many different pets in the past. Nice picture, your kittens are adorable! :)

We had a cat named Buttercup who was hit by a car. A black cat named Jingo who disappeared, but was probably hit by a car. Then my folks got a dog my brother named Princess. I had a couple of red-tailed boas, one named Belinda and the other named Pav. My brother brought home a cat from college that he and his roommates had so cleverly named "Cat." At least when the roommates were going to just abandon her, he brought her home. I was in college then myself, so I could hardly call her a pet I grew up with, but she was a very nice cat. She had a litter of kittens, my sister kept one, but she stayed at my mom's. Her name was Suki.

@mawdest I was 14 when I got them. I still like snakes. I'm not afraid of snakes. I respect them, but since I've never had a "closer encounter" with a poisonous one... at least I'd know one if I saw one. We have plenty of snakes in Texas, including all 4 kinds of the poisonous ones. At least we don't have the Mojave rattlesnake around here, the most deadly kind of rattler.

Thank you for sharing your pet story with me! :) I used to love snakes around the time I was 10 or so, that's pretty cool that you had some red-tailed boas!

@ElicBxn Very cool! Makes sense. Ahh, yeah, that must be kind of scary having all those poisonous snakes there. We have rattlesnakes here too but I think only one kind and sightings are rare for the most part!

@mawdest In our former hose, we only had cats..I missed my cats there. I remember coming home and I would see them in the gate waiting for me. My mom told me that they would wait near the gate for hours for me. they would stay there until i come and When I came, they would get inside with me....When we moved to a new house, we had dogs already cause we have bigger place here.

Oh wow, no kidding!? That's a lot of pets to have! Well, must just warm your heart though, to have all those cute fur babies hanging out with you :) I do not have any pets living with me, but I do have a single cat that lives at my parents that is "technically" mine! It is the black and white cat in the main picture :)

@mspitot Ooh, very interesting. Well that's nice that you have a bigger place now :) It must be nice to have both cats and dogs, I would like to have both of them one day, maybe just 1 of each though.

I honestly can't remember how many we had as it was such a long time ago. I know we had more cats than dogs as my parents weren't all that keen on dogs and cats were easier to look after. Now I have my own home I prefer dogs.

@mawdest I'm actually about 12 miles away in a town called Chippenham but MyLot placed me there. It's only a 10 minute train ride away and it really is a beautiful city with amazing architecture. I hope you enjoyed your visit.

@sprite1950 Ooh, I see! Yes, Bath certainly did have very amazing architecture, I remember a cathedral in particular, that was absolutely stunning! I did enjoy my visit, thank you very much :)

Yeah, cats definitely are easier to look after, for sure! I would like to get a dog one day :) By the way, this is a bit off topic, but I notice you are from Bath, England.. I was just there about 3 weeks ago, or so.. What a beautiful place!!

Because of my severe asthma and allergies I couldn't have any pets. My dad had a couple of hunting dogs and I'd sneak over to their pen to say hi, but I only had one real pet...the one in my profile picture.
